Not so good whatsoever
The staff were magic. They did all they could to cover up the poor
situation they were working in. The decor was appalling, the reception looked chipped and sad, the en-suites were of pathetic workmanship. The carpets on the stairs are threadbare. The so called function room was like a scout hut. The chefs were working with a substandard kitchen (although the food was superb -- try the chips and sweets, fantastic). If this was my house I would be embarrassed to invite people in. If you are looking for awards do the job properly and not just what the punter can see at first glance. You are making loads of money so spend it back an make the hotel fresh and appealing. the wardrobe in 106 is just about to fall off the wall. Dont patch up the place, do it right.

We were given small, drab cold rooms on second floor. No hot water, despite running the tap or the shower/bath for 15 minutes. We were three couples in three twin-bedded rooms. There was curdled milk left on the windowsill presumably by a previous guest. No heating overnight. Reception staff couldn't do anything because the manager was on holiday. I had to phone him and he disputed my complaint. Given that this was not an inexpensive hotel I felt the standard was very poor and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
