Located in heart of Asheville, the Arthaus is just a block away from the city bus depot and one and a half miles from the Greyhound station. It is ideally situated to walk downtown to enjoy international cuisine, take a stroll through the many art galleries, or catch some live music in the evening.
The hostel is aptly named as both its interior and exterior is painted with vibrant colors. The rooms -- especially the four-person dorms -- are a bit on the cozy side, but are warm and inviting.
The hostel features free wi-fi for those who have a laptop and a wireless card, and the hostel can provide a PCMCIA slot wireless card for guest use. There are two common bathrooms and, like the rooms, they're clean. There is a living room with a TV and counches. People also mingle in the kitchen/dining area. Guests are welcome to use the plates and utensils, provided they clean up after themselves, and there is plenty of space for food storage. Interesting conversation around the dining table can be expected in the evenings and the morning.
A great location, clean rooms, a hospitable environment, and lots of fun are all hallmarks of the Asheville Arthaus.
Note: Asheville Arthaus used to be a hostel but now they no longer offers dorm beds, just private rooms.
Asheville Hostel & Guest House Reviews from the Web
This was an amazing stay for me. I was able to walk everywhere in needed to go for 3 whole days and felt safe in the space as well as the neighborhood walking.
I enjoyed the friendly staff, the cleanliness, and the vibe of the space. Thank you for being available to me.
Great place to stay for my visit to Asheville. Easy walking distance to all the great venues downtown, and just a few miles drive to the Biltmore Estate. Very quiet and secluded. I was traveling alone, and had a comfortable bed in a nice room. Highly recommend.
Host is local and happy to help with restaurant recommendations for a variety of palettes. Clean, omfortable, no pressure. 5 minute walk to Orange Peel which is what brought me to town.
Great location and I felt super safe, as I was traveling alone. I'll be back! BJ was awesome host also!!

I had the best sleep in my room at this house. Very clean and comfortable! It had everything I needed and BJ was friendly and helpful! Great location.
The place was well-located, clean and quiet and the other was very flexible in letting me check out late due to my evening flight.
Asheville Hostel & Guest House in Asheville, NC was perfect for my needs. It was clean and safe. It had everything that I needed to be comfortable (clean linens, towels, clean bathroom, well-stocked kitchen, etc.). FYI, This is not a party hostel. This is a quiet hostel located in a quiet neighborhood which I prefer over the traditional party hostel. I did not encounter any problems. I would definitely consider staying here again.
Everything about Asheville Hostel and Guest House was perfect. BJ is a great, inviting host who is always available for help or suggestions. He even upgraded my room since I was the only guest when I was there (slow session on a Sunday-Tuesday). The actual accommodation itself was very cozy and the mattress was super comfortable. The location was prime for walking anywhere downtown. Definitely recommend staying here if you go to Asheville!
