Avenir Hotel Montmartre Reviews

I have been there at the beginning of september 2006, and I have found my room very clean and useful -- the restroom was normally small, but with a very nice shower in it (one of those with wall almost all round). From our room the sacr coeur could be seen (but this is true only for few rooms of the hotel, so we got lucky). The free brekfast was a typical French one -- orange juice, croissant, and tea (or coffe, but a very long one) and some bread with two kinds of jams to choose and some butter. Good. The locker, if you want it, must be paid -- 1 euro per day. The people at reception were rather kind, also speaking some English. The only problem, we have seen no kind of air conditioning, so you'd probably better avoid the warmest months of the year with rooms this small -- also because being on a boulevard, I wouldn't keep the window open. The area is, yes, Montmartre, but not best part of it -- don't expect many tourists around and it is also on a not-so-nice-boulevard (pigalle with all its night clubs and strip-shows and porno-cinemas is not so far away), but it never looked dangerous or ugly to us, just simply not beautiful and a bit crunchy.

michele segala, quite good

Avenir is a cute little hotel in a fantastic location. 60 euros for a three-bed room, with en suite, TV and breakfast, didn't give me huge expectations, but I really enjoyed my stay here. It's right in the heart of Montmartre and a few minutes from a Metro station. Cleaning staff are VERY efficient and also friendly and helpful. The man at reception went out of his way to find out some info for me and was happy to serve breakfast early to accommodate our early departure. The rooms are rather quaint, with window boxes and art deco trimmings. All in all, a great value-for-money guesthouse that I would recommend to anyone.

This hotel was one of our best stays in all of Europe. The front desk staff were friendly and very helpful. Our room was spotless with an excellent view. Breakfast was served in bed every morning at whatever time you request. The Metro station is across the street, making transportation easy. Our room was cleaned each day and there were fresh towels in our cute bathroom, too. My only complaint is when we asked what time checkout was we were told at noon but that didn't stop the cleaning staff from banging on the door at 9 a.m. and every 30 minutes after that. Then they just started coming in without knocking. If checkout is at noon why do the maids try to clean the room every 30 minutes from 9 a.m. on? Considering they treated us so well it's easy to overlook it.

I stayed in four different places while I was in Paris and this was by far the best. While I must admit that it was not what I expected when I first arrived (discreetly slotted in amongst the hustle and bustle that is Montmartre), I soon warmed to its quaint charm. The rooms are terribly cute with amazing views and the housekeeping staff clean them each morning with almost frightening efficiency. Although the area is quite "colorful" (being a young female travelling alone, this was not always a good thing), the hotel is right across the road from the Metro and there is an Internet cafe just two doors down. The best thing about this hotel, however, is the breakfast that they provide. It is ABSOLUTELY worth forking out the few extra euros for this service each morning, as it is of a superior quality to any hotel food that I have ever tasted. As well as the great quality, the meal itself is of a considerable size so for those on a particularly tight budget (as I was), it is a relief to get at least one good meal a day. A stay at the Hotel Avenir is a must for any first timer in Paris...it is a truly Parisian experience!
