Washington, D.C. is the capital of the US and more than 170 foreign embassies, and a good number of Washington DC hostels. It is a planned garden city designed by French-born architect Pierre Charles L’Enfant and consists of four boroughs. If you are looking for a Washington DC hostel, try to stay in Capitol Hill or Dupont Circle. These are the most convenient bases if you are mainly interested in sights like the White House, the Supreme Court, and the National Museum of Art since they are all clustered around Constitution Avenue. Dupont Circle is a cosmopolitan borough and home to a lot of embassies whereas Capitol Hill boasts with numerous architectural highlights. If you do not mind being a bit farther away from the center, Adams-Morgan is a very lively and multicultural neighborhood with lots of art galleries and international eateries.
