Winter sports are particularly popular here, because snow is guaranteed on the over 104km of slops within the Aletsch Arena skiing area – which accommodates both newcomers to the world of skiing and snowboarding and more accomplished practitioners. Cross-country trails stretch across 100km nearby, at the holiday region of Goms, and there are plenty of winter hiking trails for visitors who prefer not to strap skis or boards to their feet. The adjacent Fiescheralp resort even offers a 13km toboggan run.
Accommodations here are quite varied, as this destination is a popular one for tourists from around the globe. The best way to get to a hostel or hotel is Fiesch is by train, as the village is located on the railway from Brig to Andermatt. There is also a cable car from Fiesch to Kuhboden, on the mountain above the village, or to Bellwald, which offers spectacular views toward the Matterhorn.
