Ratagan, Scotland, is located in the northwest of the country, on the shore of the Loch Duich. Although the tiny hamlet has nothing else to offer but lovely scenery all around, it is definitely in a strategic location for some of the most important sights Scotland has to offer.

Just around ten kilometres from Ratagan, along the A87, you will find the Elian Donan Castle, one of the most iconic buildings of the country. Set against some truly majestic scenery, this thirteenth-century castle is located on the shore of Loch Alsch. With a beautifully preserved, arched stone bridge leading up to it, the castle itself is a true masterpiece and its rooms have been furnished according to the period it was inhabited. For a reasonable entry price, this place can definitely be an amazing daytrip from Ratagan.

Continuing further along the A87, you only have to drive ten kilometres more to find yourself on the Isle of Skye, a true wonder of nature and one of the top attractions of Scotland! From rich history, through amazing wildlife to spectacular landscapes, you can find everything here that will make your holiday memorable!

Heading to the East from Ratagan, after a short ride, you will reach Loch Ness, another mysterious place of the Highlands. Here, according to the legend, there is a monster inhabiting the lake. Although many visitors arrive at the shores of the lake in an attempt to get a glimpse of him, most of them have to make do with looking at his statue at the Visitor Centre and imagining the times gone by at the marvelous ruins of the Urquhart Castle.

Although you will probably need your own vehicle to be able to make the best use of your time in Ratagan, the good news is that you do not have to worry about blowing your budget while here! You will find a Ratagan, Scotland hostel with the most beautiful location in Scotland, in a cute little cottage -- everybody is guaranteed a relaxing time!
