Ludwigsburg is divided into several suburbs. The best places to try to get a Ludwigsburg hostel are in a central area such as Oßweil, Eglosheim or Pflugfelden. Public transport is widely available and you will have not problems getting around. While staying at a Ludwigsburg hostel, make sure to visit Ludwigsburg palace, one of the largest baroque castles in Germany. It features a magnificent garden which is best to visit in spring and summer when it is in full bloom. There are also to smaller castles, Favorit and Monrepos, which are well worth a visit.
Breuningerland is a favorite area of shoppers and is located just outside of the city center close to some Ludwigsburg hostels. It has numerous specialty shops and long shopping hours. However, do not go there on a Saturday unless you are happy with large pushy crowds.
