I go to Apollo Bay each year and I love it. The local bakery is great! No matter where you stay, you'll never want to leave!
Hello my name is Bob
I thought that Apollo Bay was great. I never wanted to leave. It was good that everyone's friendly.
I went to Apollo Bay in the 2004 christmas holidays and I loved it. I HAVE to include that I have never seen so many hot guys in my life! I made heaps of friends (teens) and the people in Apollo Bay were friendly. I loved the food at the local bakery-- the pies were fantastic!
I haved visited Apollo Bay many times and I can honestly say that the town is only getting better. There are plenty of nice cafes and restaurants in the area (La Bimba is a personal favourite) and accommodation is easy to find. Also, it it a great place to base yourself if you wish to see the sights along the Great Ocean Road.
If you're travelling with a group of friends, then I would recommend staying in a self-contained cabin in one of the caravan parks. By sharing the costs, it can be quite cheap.
I have visited Apollo Bay many times and I would like to recommend to EVERYONE that they must try one of the delicious treats from the local bakery. The food is excellent and the staff are delightful.
Apollo Bay is situated in Colac Otway Shire, Victoria, Australia. A quiet, pretty seaside town of about 2,000 people, Apollo Bay is along the Great Ocean Road and is a common place of stay for travelers and backpackers. Apollo Bay is one of the smaller places along the road, and is a great place to relax for a day or two if you have the time. Apollo Bay was founded in the early 19th century.
There is a good selection of Apollo Bay hostels, the prices are reasonable, and the quality of lodging is generally very nice. However, take into account the fact that in the high season (midsummer, December-January being the most busy time), it is highly recommended to book ahead. The Great Ocean Road and towns along it become packed with people and tour buses during that time of year.
When staying at an Apollo Bay hostel most of the entertaining activities involve the sea. Sailing is a favorite pastime, and surfing is also good in the area. Golf and "Aussie Footie" (Australian Football) are also a part of people's free time here. The town center is very compact and makes for a great walk, and you can truly feel the relaxed atmosphere and the nice attitude of the people in this small, relaxed town.
Apollo Bay hostels are also convenient places to stay when the city hosts festivals, of which the most known are the Apollo Bay Music Festival and the Great Ocean Sports Festival. Check ahead for details and ticket prices / booking.
