Slochd Mhor is in a rural setting 3 miles north of the Highland village of Carrbridge. We are in a beautiful location surrounded by forrests and hills, walking, cycling, birdwatching and in the Winter Cross-country ski-ing from our Ski School.
Ian and Liz Bishop and family run the hostel, Ian is the 2008 World Porridge Making Champion www.thegoldenspurtle.co.uk the family carry out all the work and maintinance themselves. The hostel has a 4 star Visit Scotland grading and a Silver Green-Eco Award. The Lodge is warm and cosy and kept very clean and tidy, has a large kitchen dinning room and a separate fabulous lounge to relax in. We very much enjoy meeting people and will do our best to make you very welcome at Slochd, we enjoy people who respect other peoples wishes.
We have lovely family 5 person en-suite rooms, twin room, and rooms sleeping 6 and 10 people, and separate female and male rooms. Great shower rooms and toilets with full facilities for wheel chair user.
This area is fantastic with so many places to go and see and learn about the Highland culture. Carrbridge is the original Ski Village in the valley which is called the Spey Valley. If you are interested to see wildlife animals or birds we can help you with a guide, you can visit some of the highest mountains in Scotland from the Slochd so get a move on and come for a visit.... welcome Ian & Liz
