As a three-star hotel, Ulisse Deluxe Hostel is not a hostel in the usual typical sense, but it offers four dormitories for guests within the hotel, which can be a good option for solo travelers or guests on a budget.
The Location
Ulisse Deluxe Hostel is at the opposite end of Sorrento from the bus and train station; however it is only about a ten-minute walk to either along the flat main road through the town. The ferry port and the harbour are a ten- to fifteen-minute walk down the steep hills and stairs that are a feature of Sorrento, and the narrow streets of the Old Town are just a few minutes’ walk away. There are plenty of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance of the Ulisse, although the hotel itself is situated on a quiet stretch of road.
Rooms and Bathrooms
There are four separate rooms designated as dormitories -- two are for male guests and two for female guests. Each has an en suite bathroom and a mix of beds -- bunks and two singles, which may or may not be pushed together. There is not a lot of space and some of the rooms don’t have outside windows, which make them appear even more cramped or at least when they are at full occupancy. Towels as well as shower gel and shampoos and hairdryers are provided, and the bathrooms and large and generally clean.
The hotel heating system is linked to the air-conditioning, so it is one or the other throughout the hotel; when the weather outside is cold and the heating is on, you don’t have the option of the air conditioning and the internal rooms without a window can get very hot during the night. The hotel staff are happy to provide electric fans, but these do little to lower the temperature.
Common Spaces
There are seats in the bar, which is in the large, bland reception area, and there are also smaller seating areas upstairs on the landings at the end of the corridors. There is a brightly coloured dining room where you can take breakfast (for an extra charge) and a bar. There is a spa attached to the hotel, however guests do pay full price for the facilities. Also available in the corridors are vending machines for drinks or snacks.
Summary
The hotel/hostel has little atmosphere and nowhere really to socialise; provided there are other guests sharing your dormitory, however, you will meet and have the option to socialise with your fellow travelers. On the plus side, the reception staff are friendly and professional and will supply you with maps, information about the town, and details of any excursions that you might like to take. In a town where accommodation can be expensive, Ulisse provides value for money and a good base from which to explore the Amalfi Coast.

• You can reach the Ulisse Deluxe Hotel in Sorrento by different kind of transports, both private or public.
• By Plane: Land at Capodichino International Airport in Naples, which is connected to the major international and Italian airports. If requested, a car will pick you up at the airport and take you to Sorrento in approximately one hour. There is also a public bus service from the airport to Sorrento.
• By Train: Arrive at Naples Central Station. Change to the local train, the �Circumvesuviana�, which leaves for Sorrento every 20-30 minutes. The journey to Sorrento (last stop) takes 1 hour and 15 minutes. One of the stops on the line from Naples to Sorrento is Pompei Scavi, the nearest station to the archaeological site of Pompei. If requested, a car will pick you up at Naples Central and take you to Sorrento. The local train station is just 1 km from the hostel.
• Once you are in Sorrento, from the train/bus station the Ulisse is only 700 metres walking distance (20 mins).
• Exiting the train station:
• Take steps down and then cross two small streets to Corso Italia (main street).
• Turn left and walk, passing the main square (TASSO SQUARE). Continue walking on the main street until you reach the Hospital.Facing the Hospital, look for the small steps on your left. Go down the steps and walk down the street until you see the Ulisse , on your left. Approximately 700 meters (20 minutes by walk)
• By car: Take the A3 Napoli-Pompei-Salerno motorway and exit at Castellammare di Stabia, then follow the signs to Sorrento. Once in Sorrento go to end of Corso Italia (Near the Hospital) and take you left in Via del Mare. After 100 m you will find us.
• Journey times vary according to traffic and season. With a car, resorts like Amalfi, Ravello and Positano are all within easy reach, just a few km along the Amalfitana coast road.
• By Hydrofoil: Daily service all year round with departures from Naples (Beverello pier) and Capri. The harbour is just 1 km from
