Welcome to Plateau Lodge, we are a family run lodge with a variety of accommodation. We cater for single travellers, families or large groups. Our range of accommodation varies from budget beds to private double/family rooms (with or without a bathroom) or a modern two bedroom apartment. Plateau Lodge is located In New Zealand's North Island set in the heart of the National Park Village located on the edge of the Tongariro National Park. We are located at the foot hills of Mt Ruapehu, Mt Tongariro and Mt Ngauruhoe, the landscape of sacred volcanoes. Tongariro National Park is a haven for New Zealand's largest & most developed ski area, Whakapapa, Turoa & Tukino, while summer boasts the best one day hike in New Zealand Tongariro Crossing. In summer & winter National Park accommodation boasts spectacular views of all three volcanoes covered in either glistening snow or deep red volcanic rock. National Park accommodation is in a small village with hire equipment, bars, cafes and supermarket they are all in walking distance from Plateau Lodge, a perfect getaway in the Tongariro Park.

We provide transport to The Tongariro Crossing - Check out our timetable for the Tongariro Crossing transport to Whakapapa Village where shorter walks and breathtaking views dominant the skyline. We also provide transport to the Northern Circuit / Round the Mountain and Mt Ruapehu Hiking Trails. If time is on your hands Tongariro Park hosts many activities from mountain biking to floating down one of the many glacial streams.
Dont forget our backyard is home to the mighty Whanganui River, paddle, bike or hike to the Bridge to Nowhere located in the Whanganui National Park, only 45 minutes from National Park accommodation.

Location
• Plateau Lodge is situated on Carroll St in National Park Village, on the junction of State Highway 4 and State Highway 47.
• We are in the heart of the North Island on the edge of the world famous Tongariro National Park World Heritage Area.
• Plateau Lodge is just a 20min drive from Whakapapa Ski Area, a 55min drive from Turoa Ski Area and 25min drive from the starting and finishing points of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing track.
• By Road:
• From Auckland - Take state highway 1 until Ngaruawahia, then right onto state highway 39 to 8 mile junction just after Te Kuiti, then left onto state highway 4. Follow the signs to National Park on state highway 4. About 4 hours drive.
• From Wellington - Take state highway 1 until Waiouru, then onto state highway 49 until Ohakune. Continue through Ohakune on state highway 49a and turn right at the state highway 49a and state highway 4 junction onto state highway 4 to National Park Village. About 4 hours drive.
• From Taupo - Take state Highway 1 until Turangi, then turn right onto state Highway 41, then left onto state highway 47 to National Park Village. About 1 1/4 hours drive.
• Both the train and bus stop in National Park Village daily.
