La Choza Inn feels more like a resort hotel when you walk in, but also has the amenities and social areas befitting a hostel.
The Location
Located down a quiet back street but only a few minutes' walk from the Main Street of La Fortuna and all of its action, you will find the La Choza Inn. It is a six-block walk to the main supermarket and about the same to get to the main bus station for local buses arriving to and from La Fortuna. There are loads of places to eat out on the Main Street as well and an abundance of local tour operators looking to sell you a trip -- just check prices and itineraries before you book anything. La Choza Inn also offers bookings of tours at their front desk.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The dorm room here is comfortable and had two sets of bunk beds and a double bed. They were comfortable for sleeping, but depending on the time of the year and how ramped up the air conditioning is, you may want to ask for an extra blanket, as they only provide you with a sheet. There are lockers located within the room where you can put away your valuables if you have your own lock.
The bathroom is an en suite to the bedroom and is equipped with an electric shower, so you will have hot water. It is basic but clean and tidy. If you need another toilet, there are another two located toward the kitchen and main common area.
Common Spaces
There is a large garden area at La Choza Inn with tables and chairs where you can relax and enjoy the ambience. They also have a large kitchen with a lot of dining tables and chairs. They serve free breakfast of gallo pinto, scrambled egg, fruit, and toast here in the mornings between 7 and 9. There is also a patio area off the kitchen which people can hang out in as well. It makes for quite a social space and it's fairly easy to meet people.

La Choza Inn is a great place to kick off your stay in La Fortuna. The staff are really helpful and friendly and can give you advice on the best ways to do things in the area. It offers a great location and a great stay!

Hostel La Choza Inn is located in the fortunes of San Carlos, our guests can relax and enjoy a warm and serene atmosphere. We are in a very quiet area, away from pollution and noise. Located just 20 minutes away to the majesty of Arenal volcano, also from our hotel you have the possibility to visit different attractions in the area, such as: Waterfall of fortune, Butterfly Garden, Crocodile farms and more.
