Hostel Miran Mostar Reviews

Excellent stay -- thank you!

I've been traveling Europe for nine months, and this is one of the best hostels I stayed in by far! Miran, the man himself, is a fabulous host, and the hostel feels like an extension of his home rather than a collection of rooms. Definitely recommend his "Miran's" tour, even if you travel on a tight budget -- it's worth the money and a good way to understand the culture in Bosnia and Mostar, as well as visiting the most breathtaking places! Clean bathrooms, great beds, well stocked utensils in the kitchen, and the outdoor area was really chilled out and ideal for talking to other guests. Location was a 10 min walk from old town, but in a street full of hostels so you can meet other people and all go out together, so there is a really social vibe! I ended up staying two nights longer than I was supposed to, and wish I could have stayed longer. Thanks so much!

Excellent hostel -- clean, great location, great tours

Highly recommended accommodation -- family owned and run. Miran provided a great day tour, one of the best we have done yet. They are incredibly generous bringing in snacks and drinks for the guests at night, dropping off and picking up guests from the train station. We had a great atmosphere within the hostel and a great overall experience -- would definitely stay here again.

Hostel Miran is great, with a super-friendly, helpful, funny, and very welcoming owner. He made us feel almost at home.

The Location

It is less than five minutes' walk from the train and bus station. Go left as soon as you go out to the station, when you find a gas station cross the road and take the next right, then next left at the street named M. Balord. There is a small hospital on the right side of this street, take the first right after the hospital (Pere Lazetica) -- the hostel is at number 13 on the left side of the street. The name is written on the blue house number plate. There aren't many visible name street signs along the way. The hostel also offers free pick-up and drop-off if needed.

It is very close to the old town, the Old Bridge, and some historical places. Mostar isn't a big town, so everything is within walking distance. Close by the hostel, there are shops, bars, restaurants, and even a small hospital.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The dorms are clean and tidy -- very basic but good enough to sleep. Linens and towels are free. There are no lockers in the rooms, but if you need to secure something important/valuable you can just give it to the owner, who will store it in his house (he lives in the same building, but with separate facilities and entrance) and he will give it back on your return or whenever you need it.

There are two bathrooms with shower, sink, and toilet; both are clean and have hangers to put your clothes while showering.

Common Spaces

The common area is outside and it's a good place to meet other people and socialize. It features tables and benches where you can eat your meal, have breakfast, or simply chat with other travelers or with the owner himself. There isn't a dedicated kitchen, just a piece of furniture with a sink to do the washing up, and there are mugs, plates, and a kettle.

We would recommend this hostel to other backpackers who go to Mostar. Overall we enjoyed staying in this hostel even if only for one night. If we stayed any longer, we would have joined one of the many tours and activities that the owner organizes (including water rafting, cycling, and many others).

Our hostel host, Miran, made sure that we were well taken care of. He provided a better understanding of the city and its people. The accommodations were clean, comfortable, and well located. We look forward to returning someday.

Very good hostel

Miran is a perfect host. He give you a lot of information and helps if you need. The location is perfect, three minute by foot from the old bridge and from the bus station. Very good.
