There are plenty of hostels in Prague, and Hostel Marabou Prague offers a good access to the city center. Beer and other drinks are served, the reception is open nonstop. You are not allowed to bring own alcoholic drinks. The option of upgrading to premium Wi-Fi -- which you have to pay for -- seems rather strange, however, at the time of review the standard Wi-Fi works just fine.
The Location
Hostel Marabou is a Prague hostel located in the cool Zizkov area. The place of the hostel is easy to find, as it is located on a bigger street. A bus stop is really close by and it also possible to walk to the main station, although that takes about thirty minutes.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The dorm room has stable wooden bunk beds and every bed has a simple, convenient, and big locker directly at the side. There are no extra lights for every bed. Some rooms don't have windows, and ventilation is a problem. There was also a place to hang your jacket or leave other clothes and luggage.
The bathrooms are generally clean and simple. As for the six-bed dorm, there is a toilet with a sink and a shower with a sink in two very small separate rooms. There is no opportunity to hang your towel or other stuff. The shower room needs some repair, as the faucet on the sink is broken and the water in the shower would only flow as long as you kept pressing the button, which means you only have one hand free while showering.
Common Spaces
A big plus are the well-maintained common spaces. There is a kitchen you can use, there are comfortable armchairs to chill in front of the reception desk, and there are tables where you can sit around and have discussions with other travelers. Generally the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. The kitchen is reserved for the hostel staff preparing breakfast in the morning until 11 a.m. At the time of reviewing, there were not so many guests in the hostel and the common area was quiet.
Summary
Generally, you should expect a basic standard when booking a dorm room in this Prague hostel. The location is not directly in the center, but easily accessible by public transport. The staff seem helpful and the entrance area is inviting.
