Bakpak Tokyo Hostel Reviews

Great hostel!!

I loved this hostel! Staff was extremely friendly, they went out of their way to give me directions to exchange money. (He ran out of the hostel and to the bus stop just to tell me what stop it was and how much it would be). Semi-social hostel -- I especially like the outdoor seating area in the front. It was a good way to meet people. Only complaint is cleanliness, not the cleanest hostel. Kitchen/social room was a bit dirty, there was a shelf in the kitchen that I opened that smelled like death.

Comfortable stay with friendly hosts

I had an enjoyable experience at Toyko Hostel. The beds were comfortable and they had great entertainment and cooking facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful too which always makes things easier! The hostel is a little out of the way but the Tokyo metro system is efficient enough for that to not be a problem. Get on the Hibiya Line and it's a 5 minute walk from the Minowa station. Trains are literally every 2 minutes.

Friendly staff

I stayed here for 3 nights initially, location was great close to subway and JR Ueno St, walking distances, at least for me, and it is walking distance from Asakusa. Staff is friendly, when I decided to stay longer, there was a Japanese person who doesnt speak english, but he has flash cards to communicate, after explain my desire, in my basic-basic japanese, he understand and offer me a beer for free. social life in the hostel I cannot say anything because I was leaving too early and arriving too late.

Great Social Hostel

We arrived at the hostel on Friday and the lady at the desk handed us keys and information about Tokyo. We were lucky enough to have a four bed dorm to ourselves. The hostel is in a great location and the Subway is a 10 min walk away. The owners are super friendly and often make you tea and give you snacks. Its great if your social and want to meet people. If you love backpacking this is definitely the place to stay in Tokyo.

Good time, good location, and very friendly staff

Ten minutes walk from Minowa station this hostel is very easy to find if you follow the map provided.

The place is clean, with the basic stuff you will need in an Hostel. The staff is helpful and very friendly. Its one of the cheapest ( or maybe THE cheapest) hostel in Tokyo. I recommend the place and I will definitely book a bed in this place when I will visit Tokyo again. VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE.

The most fun and best hostel I've stayed at in twelve countries

I stayed here for a week in March of 2008. This hostel is great. Its a ten-minute walk from Minowa station and easy to find. The lounges and community areas are great for meeting people, playing games, music, poker, and so much more! We had a blast. There are convenience stores nearby, and its a quiet, safe neighborhood. It also had free Wi-Fi and internet computers to use. They also allow you to rent movies from them for free, and watch them in the TVs and DVD players they had in all the rooms. I love this place!

Cool hostel

It's really good, relaxed, clean, and a lot of fun, certainly cheaper than the competition. Free pasta and rice in the kitchen, as well as really nice staff, certainly a good place to start visiting Tokyo.

Ok, first the good points. The location is great. It's in a nice, quiet area and it's only about a ten minute walk from the Minowa Subway Station. The lounges are great. The people who work there are very helpful and often have stashes of additional maps. Now, the bad. We stayed in a mixed dorm, which meant one shower for the fourteen people staying on the floor. Also, two friends of one of the employees shower there daily and get ready for the day in the big dorm, twice waking me before eight a.m. They play hiphop music loudly at night in the downstairs area, which drove me nuts after a while. The upstairs lounge area was usually quiet. Though, they have a quite a porn collection in thier video library. This is not a place to bring the kids.
