Noni Tree Hostel is a little gem hidden in a non-pretentious corner of the touristy city of Siem Reap. It offers a swimming pool, impeccably clean rooms, excellent air conditioning, and amazing customer service.
The Location
Noni Tree is located in the east of the city of Siem Reap, just across the river from the center where the majority of the tourist facilities including restaurants, tour agencies, and taxi stands are located. This is the area of the Wat Damnak temple, and it is well-known for the Temple Cafe and Bakery. With its chilled vibe but proximity to the center, it is growingly popular amongst expats and also hosts a night market and a Cambodian crafts market. If your priority is to visit Angkor Wat, this place will do just fine because wherever you stay in the city, you will need your own transportation or a tuk tuk, as it is too far out of the city.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel offers private and dorm accommodation alike. The dorms boast massive and comfortable bunk beds. However, there is one drawback to staying here -- while the lower bunks are equipped with a curtain, the upper ones (for the same price) do not have this luxury, which means that it might get hard to negotiate light switch-off times with your roommates. Moreover, as the air conditioning is really strong and is closer to the upper beds, which are not protected by a curtain, people sleeping in them might feel cold during the night. The room comes with lockers and a nice view over a park. The bathrooms are just outside the rooms and the sinks, toilets, and showers are separate. The quality and cleanliness of these is first class, however, at certain times of the day the hot water is only lukewarm.
Common Spaces
The common spaces are one of the aspects of this hostel that really make it special. There is a cosy little indoor swimming pool -- you are not going to be swimming long leaps in it, but it is definitely nice to cool down inside after a long day of sightseeing. Around the pool, there is a spacious area with colourful beanbags and sunbathing mattresses as well as a bar that serves light meals, juices, and alcoholic beverages.
Summary
Noni Tree Hostel is an awesome little place with great design, comfortable facilities, and a fantastic level of cleanliness! For the price, it is almost incredible that you can find something as good as this!
