Rincon del Frances, Rincon del Mar

Rincon del Frances is a very special hostel situated right on the beach in Rincon Del Mar. The hostel has a buzzing atmosphere and really feels like part of the community. This is the prefect spot to base yourself whilst exploring the idyllic Rincon del Mar.

The Location

Rincon del Mar has a handful of hostels, and this is one of the first ones you will see when arriving in town. Rincon is a thirty-minute moto taxi ride from the nearest town and is only accessible this way unless you want to pay for an expensive taxi. The moto taxis will know where to take you once there. The location is right on the beach and very centrally located. A convenience store is located opposite the hostel and has all your basic groceries.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The rooms are relatively basic and the bunk beds are comfortable. There are fans in the larger common rooms for the humid nights. Due to its beach location, there is occasionally sand in the dorms, but they are regularly cleaned and swept.

The bathrooms are basic and have a cold stream of water coming out of a pipe for the shower. The water pressure for the shower is decent and the bathrooms are kept clean.

Common Spaces

What makes Rincon del Mar really special is how integrated it feels with the local community. With its location on the beach, there's always friendly locals around to play volleyball or a fisherman from which to buy fresh fish caught that day. The hostel will help you purchase the fish for a good price and direct you in how to cook it. The abundance of fresh fish means that a lot of nights everyone cooks and eats on the tables outside. The kitchen has excellent facilities to cook fish and lobster.

The beach area has hammocks and tables to use during the day which are in the shade. The view from here is stunning and it's a great spot from which to watch the sunset. The hostel has a very friendly and chilled-out atmosphere and it's easy to talk to new people. The hostel feels like an undiscovered paradise and feels free from excessive tourism and commercialisation.
