Beds In Garden Hostel Ipoh is a quirky and spacious small town hostel.
The Location
Beds In Garden Hostel is two kilometers away from Ipoh Railway Station, to which you can walk in under thirty minutes, and twelve kilometers from Amanjaya Bus Terminal. The hostel can be easily found as it is on the main road (Jalan Sultan Idris Shah) and has a big mural painted on its wall. The hostel is centrally located with all top attractions nearby. The is a convenience store next door and hawker centres just around the corner. Old Town is about a fifteen-minute walk away.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Dorms contain both double and single beds. They are not bunk beds and each have curtains, giving you that extra bit of privacy. On arrival you'll get a key card, which gives you access to your room and main entrance door. All beds have a drawer underneath them -- this can be locked by a padlock (not provided). Double beds have two drawers to use. Dorms are very spacious and have four double beds and three singles. There are also private rooms available.
The shared bathroom is very large with a male and female section. The showers are excellent, with hot water. You have plenty of space to hang clothes and get changed in the shower cubicle. The only negative about the toilets is that they're cleaned by someone hosing them down, which means that when you use the toilet, the toilet seat and floor are soaking wet.
Common Spaces
The common room is very large and stylish, with many chairs and sofas on which to sit. There are cards and board games available and an artificial fireplace, which gives it a nice touch. There is also seating outside where you can take your own food and drinks and mingle with other travelers. The hostel was very quiet when we where there, but there is enough common room area to meet other people in busier periods.
Summary
This is a great, affordable hostel in a good location of Ipoh. Staff are friendly and informative, and the hostel gets cleaned regularly. There are self-laundry services next door and a gym just around the corner. The hostel has a kitchen, which is available for guests to use, and a lovely garden surrounding the building. This is highly recommended for couples, groups, and solo travelers.
