Bed Station Guest House is a strange place; while their interiors are trendy, their facilities are modern, and cleanness is top-notch, their customer service is extremely bad, with lots of bookings going missing, dorms getting overbooked, and they are pretty much the only hostel around which charges a tourism tax on top of the price for dormitory stays.
The Location
The hostel is located to the north of the centre of Tanah Rata, on the way to Brinchang. While it is definitely outside the centre, it is still in walking distance of all the attractions and nature trails, but if you want to visit the tea plantations or see a Rafflesia specimen, you will need your own transportation. Bed Station is in a very modern building that was recently built to house offices and hip eateries. Moreover, the Cameron Highlands night market is also only about twenty minutes’ walk from here.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel offers dorms and private rooms alike. The dorm is massive, with around twenty beds inside. Everything in it is top quality, the mattresses are extremely comfortable and you will receive your complimentary towel, soap, and toilet paper upon check-in. However, you will have a huge emergency exit sign right above the door, which will shine a green light into your face the whole night. The bathrooms are at the other end of the corridor, but are also really modern and have everything inside you might need.
Common Spaces
Each floor has a separate common area with comfy sofas, armchairs, and a TV. Moreover, there is also a really basic kitchen belonging to each floor. However, they only have two or three sets of plates, bowls, and cutlery, and inside it is impossible to do anything other than heat water. When you book, they promise "free flow" tea and coffee, but these are not available in reality. You can, instead, pay to get breakfast and you can get a hot drink as part of that. The bottom floor is another place to socialise. Here you can rent bikes or choose a tour to participate in or chill on the sofas near the reception.
Summary
If there were a little bit more effort put into customer service, this could easily become the best hostel in the Cameron Highlands. However, as soon as you check in, you will bump into difficulties, rude manners, and unexpected extras to pay, which is not the best way to start your stay.

• The Cameron Highlands is situated in Pahang, West Malaysia. It is approximately 250 km from Malaysia Airport KLIA2.
• From Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, there are two popular routes to reach Cameron Highlands from North-South Highway. The most popular route is to exit at Tapah town, then follow a narrow trunk road that cuts through a lush mountain range for about 40km (an hour's duration; drive is slow as road is windy) up to Ringlet, the first township of Camerons.
