La Casa de Daniela, Isla Holbox

Casa de Daniela is an excellent hostel for budget travelers of all ages. There is a social vibe, but this is not a party hostel and it is easy to get a great night's sleep. This hostel is very clean, the staff are friendly, and it features a do-it-yourself-style breakfast.

The Location

The hostel is located a couple of blocks from the ferry port. It is in a quiet part of town across the street from a baseball field. The main plaza is only a five-minute walk, and you can get to the beach in ten! There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and stores within a short walking distance from the hostel, but it is located far enough from the action that it is very quiet at night.

Rooms and Bathrooms

There are several dorm rooms at Casa de Daniela. They all have bunk beds with personal fans and shelves for each bed. The beds and pillows are extremely comfortable and fresh white linens are provided. There is an en suite bathroom for all of the dorms that is kept clean and stocked with toilet paper. There are several screened windows and lockers in the dorm rooms, and each room can only be opened with a key. The rooms and bathrooms are all exceptionally clean.

Common Spaces

Upon entering the hostel, there is seating outdoors as well as a small patio area with a hammock. Inside the house, there is a kitchen and dining room open for guests. All of these common spaces are cleaned daily. The kitchen is fully equipped and kept very clean. Casa de Daniela can be a social hostel, but it is not a party hostel. Guests tend to go elsewhere to party and it is a quiet environment at night. Many breakfast items are available from 8 to 10 every morning in the kitchen for guests to prepare their own meals. There is one dining table, allowing guests to meet others and have great conversation.

Overall, Casa de Daniela is an exceptional hostel on Isla Holbox. It is an affordable option (which is hard to find on the island) without sacrificing the high quality of comfort, cleanliness, and hospitality. Breakfast is included in the price, and the location is perfect!
