La Naranja Peregrina is one of the cutest and most charming hostels we have ever had a chance to visit. The owner is friendly and kind and has made us feel at home. We were actually sad to leave.
The Location
The hostel is located in a tiny, quiet town on the northern route of the Camino de Santiago, called Muros de Nalón. It is the first hostel you'll find as you are walking into town and you can't miss it, with its cute and welcoming yard and exterior. There is a large supermarket not too far away, by the petrol station, and a few other hostels and restaurants nearby. The town center is on a hill about twenty minutes further. The town is very cute and charming, and it's definitely worth a visit! There is also a little hike to a viewpoint by the sea that is worth checking out as well.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The rooms are very comfortable and have a nice design; you'll even find some Disney character pictures around, which might send you back to your childhood and remind you of sleeping over at a friend's place! There are sheets and lamps and power outlets and enough space for personal belongings. The beds are comfortable and the rooms feel cozy and warm. The bathrooms are very stylish and have some toiletries. There is even an old-school, fancy bath upstairs -- what a treat! The rooms are also not too big, so it's rather quiet, and chances are you'll be able to get a good night's rest.
Common Spaces
There is a large dining area and a kitchen that you can use, as well as some tables outside where people mostly hang out, especially when the sun comes out. There are some snack and drink vending machines, and the best one has freshly squeezed orange juice (the oranges come from Valencia, where the owner is originally from). There is usually a communal dinner as well as breakfast and you really get pampered here. They go out of their way for us and we appreciate it a lot. There is even free Wi-Fi! Also, in the backyard, you can find some space for drying clothes, and it's a perfect place to watch the sunset.
Summary
We absolutely love this place and the friendly atmosphere and highly recommend checking it out!
