Soft Pillow hostel is run by a team of young locals who are quite friendly, but who do not speak very good English and seem to have very limited knowledge on transport options and surrounding areas. Hence, guests who have plans to travel onward to other towns or the airport will have to do their own research.
Wi-Fi is provided for free to all guests. The hostel is also wheelchair accessible, as there is a lift that goes to every floor. Guests are also allowed to store their luggage for free at the front desk.
The Location
The hostel shares the same building as a hip cafe, so it is very convenient for guests to grab a quick drink or snack right at the hostel. As it's located off the main road, the hostel is also extremely quiet. However, the hostel is located a long, fifteen-minute walk away from the Old Quarter and bus station. There are also very few shops opened in the surrounding areas at night. Hence, guests who visit the Old Quarter often and are more active at night may find this hostel to be inconvenient. The hostel is located near an airport shuttle bus stop, which is convenient for guests who are catching a flight from the hostel.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Rooms comes with strong air conditioning. Each bed is equipped with its own charging point, and curtains for guests' privacy. Beds and pillows are comfortable and clean. No lockers are provided to guests.
Bathrooms are not en suite, and there is very limited number of cubicles. Hence, guests may have to queue up to use the bathroom during peak hours. Warm showers are available, and the water pressure of the showers is strong. Towels are provided for free to all guests, but shampoo and body soap are not provided.
Common Spaces
There is no common area in this hostel. However, many guests hang out at the cafe on the first floor. The cafe has comfortable sofas and is air conditioned. Prices of drinks are reasonable, though guests can still sit there without buying anything from the cafe.
Summary
Soft Pillow Hostel is a great place to stay for guests who prefer to live somewhere quiet and away from all the action. However, guests who prefer convenience should consider other options, as this hostel is located far away from the Old Quarter and bus stations.
