Hilltop Salento, Salento

Hilltop Salento is an idyllic, friendly, and cosy hostel in Colombia's tranquil coffee region. Blessed with stunning views, this is a great spot to enjoy all Salento has to offer.

The Location

The hostel is located around a five-minute walk from Salento's main plaza, from where the jeeps to Cocora and the coffee tours leave. It is around a ten-minute walk to the buses that depart for Armenia and there are some hills en route. It's a great location and is close to everything you need in Salento.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The rooms are serviceable although there are not power sockets located next to every bed. Some of the rooms open onto the main hostel and the pool. The rooms are quite cramped, and have small windows which means it can be a bit dingy during the day. There are not lockers in the room.

The bathrooms are spacious, clean, and modern. The showers are strong and mostly have warm water. There is plenty of space to get changed in them and places to put your clothes.

Common Spaces

The common spaces are the best part of this hostel. The design of the hostel is lovely, with beautiful curtains and floor paneling making this look like a seaside beach resort. There's a pool in the middle of the hostel that is surrounded by plants and hammocks, making this a very tranquil setting.

There's plenty of seating and hammocks dotted around the hostel and a small kitchen and bar in the central space. There isn't a central hub of activity, but there are lots of cosy spots to meet people. This isn't the most social hostel, but it is a very relaxing place to spend the day.

There's a balcony on the roof, which is accessible with a ladder. This has seating and a very stunning view of Salento which is hard to beat, especially at sunset.

Summary

Hilltop Salento has all the required facilities to make it a fantastic hostel, although it does lack a very lively social atmosphere. Its intimate setting is perfect for relaxation and downtime in Salento. It's in a central location, which means it's perfect to get to all the main tourist spots in Salento. The hostel's views are some of the best in town and really make the hostel.
