El Viajero Hostel Salento is set on a picturesque hilltop and boasts a lively atmosphere and excellent facilities. This is a great spot to relax, drink coffee, and have an enjoyable evening of socialising.

The Location

El Viajero Hostel is located around a seven-minute walk from Salento’s main plaza and is in walking distance of a variety of shops. The plaza is also where you can get the jeep that takes you on the coffee and Cocora Valley tours. The bus station is a hilly fifteen-minute walk away from the hostel. The road on which it's located has a lot of other hostels and is relatively quiet.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The rooms are spacious and clean and every person has a large locker under the beds. The beds are comfortable and modern and spread apart, so there's plenty of floor space. The rooms face into the main courtyard and so there is noise coming in at night through the thin walls.

The bathrooms are clean and have good facilities. The bathrooms in the room are split into two with the toilet in one room and the shower in the other. This split is convenient in the larger dorms where it cuts waiting time. The shower is hit and miss with warm water and has plenty of space in which to get changed.

Common Spaces

The hostel has a very social atmosphere and boasts ample common spaces. The hostel's reception has sofas, free coffee, baggage storage, and plenty of information about what to do in Salento. The hostel also has a computer room, which adjoins a very large kitchen. The main courtyard has a firepit and seating for sunny days. It is a very green and pretty area, which has a great view of Salento's surrounding hills.

The main social hub of the hostel is the bar. The bar has lots of wooden tables and seating and a large floor space where the salsa classes take place. It is a very social area and is also where breakfast is served in the mornings.

El Viajero is one of the more social hostels you'll find in Salento and has great evening entertainment at the bar. There's a fantastic mix of chill-out and more social spaces. The hostel has loads of information on what to do in Salento and is a great spot from which to explore the region.
