Nomads Noosa Reviews

Good location, tired staff

The location were good and they provided pick up service from the bus station where the premier and greyhound arrive. The staff were not polite and were more a bunch of friends having fun than actually working and helping all the backpackers. Talked to a few at the hostel and everyone agreed. Many people smoking weed, even staff. Also someone stole my food.

Nomads Noosa Backpackers, a nice hostel in Noosa, is known as one of the party hostels in town. The hostel is located in the center of the city, a short, ten-minute walk from the main beach. This hostel has a lot of beds available and the facilities are really nice, with exception of the kitchen, which is small for so many people and sometimes can get a little bit messy. This hostel is a good value for money, specially for its location, facilities, services provided (free pickup from the bus stop), and friendly staff.

The Location

Noosa has two main commercial streets and this hostel is located on one of them; the other main street (beachfront) is within ten-minutes' walking distance from the hostel, so it's easily reachable. At night, if you prefer to have a drink on this street, don't worry about coming back at night - Noosa is a really safe city. Because of the hostel's location, you have access to a lot of shops, liquor shops, cafes, restaurants, travel agencies, and supermarkets. This hostel offers a free pickup from the main bus stop (it's only five minutes' walking distance, but with all your luggage, this pickup is really worth it).

Rooms and Bathrooms

The rooms are really nice, with comfortable bunk beds and with enough space for you and your bags. At check-in, you will pay a key deposit. The rooms don't have lockers for everybody, so you will have to pay attention to your belongings. This hostel provides free linen, and the beds are already made, so you don't need to worry with that. The bathrooms are inside the dorms and there are only two showers and a toilet, so in big dorms that can sometimes sleep up to sixteen people, it can become really crowded. The showers have good pressure and hooks to hang your clothes, but only enough space to put your soap -- the shampoo and conditioner have to be on the ground.

Common Spaces

This hostel has its own bar, which also offers meals on a budget at the beginning of the night, and later on, cheap drinks and nice music (it's a very nice place to meet other people). Other really nice facilities include a swimming pool, a sand volleyball field, and tables outside to have breakfast or lunch. The only exception is the kitchen, which is really poor with providing the utensils you need (only one sharp knife, for example); you'll have to pay a deposit to have a kitchen kit, composed by a plate; one bowl; one cup; one fork, spoon, and knife.

In the end, the overall impression is good - this place has great facilities and location on a budget, and is the perfect place to meet people from all the world and share some stories in the beautiful city of Noosa.

Change of owners, full refurbishment.

If you want to stay here please note that as of october 2010 new owners have refurbished the entire place. I was working at koalas for four years and yes, it was a dive! though I have move on now to other things i did have the privilege of seeing the renovations before I left. And I must admit, they did a damn good job. Give it a chance.

Fantastic place, real and true

Such a friendly place where you meet people you like. Rooms aren't five star but who cares. Go stay in a posh joint if you don't want to meet people, eat and drink well, top pool, throw your own cds on relax. Loved it.

Terrible -- do not stay here

There is nothing nice to say about this place. I would rather have slept on the beach than stayed here -- we stayed for a night and then moved on, even though we'd paid for four. No refunds, and they dont like it when you tell them that you're not happy. Terrible security, dirty overcrowded rooms, disgusting bathrooms, and the kitchen should have been cordoned off for health and safety reasons! I just wanted to cry. Awful awful awful place. Do not stay here!

Disgusting -- not even one star

Awful. I don't even know where to begin (but I'll find somewhere). The worst hostel we have ever had the misfortune of staying in. The rooms were filthy, the shared bathrooms had not been cleaned in years. Security is poor. Kitchens -- the shelves were full of bags of gone off food which stank and attracted flies. No equipment. When we complained the staff were not interested. We weren't the only ones complaining. The bar is used by locals and by the end of the night there were fights outside and the there was vomit everywhere. We left after a night. We'd booked for a week but fortunately had friends there we could go and stay with. They would not give us a refund. Avoid at all costs. By all accounts the other hostels in Noosa are nice. Use them.

Doesnt even deserve one star -- disgusting dirty unsafe place to stay

this place is disgusting. I have been traveling for a year and it is the worst hostel I have ever stayed in. Dorms -- dirty, very very unsafe, they wont think twice of putting a single girl traveling alone in a room with a bunch of drunk lads! A lad tried to climb into bed with me, when i complained they said there was no room to move me! The shared bathroom never ever got cleaned! The doubles had access through the room and left the doors unlocked. We had people walking in at night, looking for spare beds to crash on. Kitchen -- no utensils, i had to eat out a pan! dirty filthy place! TV room -- dirty and disgusting I couldnt even go in there. Staff -- need to learn how to smile, very rude and unpleasant, if you dont work there they hate you and wont even bother to give you the time of day. Do not stay here! we also got told of peoples stuff going missing and money being stolen out the room by the cleaners when the room was locked!

One of our favourite hostels in OZ

I loved it. Was traveling with three other girls and we all agreed it was a favorite from Oz. Main rooms are a good size but having small rooms with the only access through the main room is a bit odd. Food in bar is lovely and really cheap, you are really central and there was never too much noise from the bar if you decided to have a quite night. The pool is fabulous and the shuttle bus driver, Fergal I think it was, was such a cool guy! Stayed in Nov. '08 so I'm guessing things have vastly improved in the last year.

Great hostel, fund activities for the younger stayers. Good location, 800m from the greyhound stop

Got put in an empty dorm room, so a huge plus

Lovely hostel in a great location, super clean and felt so comfortable there. Would definitely recommend :)

The stuff was nice but it wasnt very clean. Dead bug under my bed, smelly linen dirty bathroom. It was okey for 2 nights but I wouldnt come back or recommend to stay there for a longer period.

The Location is great and the Mood pretty Chill.

Loved the theme evenings at the bar.

What is lacking is some Kind of indoor Common room when the Weather Gets colder. And maybe better insulations in the rooms ? It does get chilly in June !

Overall okay. The wifi was only working very close to the reception The kitchen was not very clean and there was only one wet towel to dry things though the whole day the room was not the cleanest, but it was okay.

Absolutely fantastic. Although the pool cleaning man is rather strange.

The location was good - very close to the bus station and to shops and restaurants - but overall not a nice hostel. I am a solo traveller and going into a room with 16 beds all squished in next to each other was quite intimidating to meet and socialise with people. There was also not really a comfortable outside area when the weather was bad - which meant either get wet or sit on your bed! I stayed there for one night before moving to somewhere more comfortable on the other side of town.

Would definitely recommend. The most social hostel Ive been to with the best vibe. Great outside space to socialise and make friends. Different events on in the bar area every night which was good. Not far to beach, shops, restaurants etc or greyhound bus stop. Most of the staff really nice. Bedrooms and bathrooms were clean. The only issue is the disgusting kitchen, its tiny, very hot and really grim and unclean, I had to eat out every day. The taps in the rooms were also dodgy.

Amazing location, great atmosphere with a bar in the hostel but its not too loud either which is good, next to the beach

Overall not satisfied with our stay at Nomads Noosa. We in fact reduced the length of our stay for the following causes: very poor cleanliness in the rooms and kitchen (particularly in the kitchen), lack of light in the common areas and rooms, very weird general atmosphere, it felt like somewhat of a squat. The staff was not very helpful and almost non present. No common areas to chill in when the weather is bad. No supervised storage for the luggages. Would not recommend Nomads Noosa.

Definitely the worst hostel Ive ever stayed in, couldnt even go in the kitchen without gagging at the smell of the fridges. Im sure its illegal to have fridges smelling that bad, they seriously need replacing. The kitchen is so dirty, I couldnt use any mugs or plates since they were all piled up at the sink.

The rooms are so cramped and smelly, Im so certain that they dont wash the white blankets on the bed either. There is only one toilet for a room of 16 and no big communal toilets to go to. Its

The hostel is clean and in a good location with an easy walk down to main beach and nice places to eat and drink nearby.

The GOKI app was not functioning during our stay which meant that you would get woken up hourly to people slamming on doors to try get in. Including overnight which was annoying. Otherwise the room was left open which was not good when you've your belongings inside.

Nice rooms, friendly staff, good location, amazing bar and restaurant, liked the vibe of the hostel

Hostel was very dirty and not good staff

It was great!

Room 10 needs a door on the bathroom for privacy.

Great location and atmosphere - Rooms were clean - only down side was the poor kitchen

We stayed in a 16 bed dorm it had two showers, where the hot water barley functioned, and one toilette. The toilet lid was broken and one of the two taps were as well. When you were lucky you had a plug beside your bed but if not you hat to share two plugs in the bathroom with 16 people. The kitchen is really dark, they do not have bowls, an oven or a freezer. Weve been there for almost four weeks and the first tree they did not have any forks. One water boiler is broken and the toaster has burned one day

A good sized hostel close to the beach and restaurants, a nice bar with affordable drinks and food. Very good value for money

Nice hostel and had a good swimming pool. Was quite a lot of people there as well. Would stay there again, however hopefully in time the atmosphere would pick up.

Beautiful place!!
