Antwerp City Hostel is a great budget option found right on the Grote Markt in a historic guild house with views of the famous Cathedral of our Lady and the square from your dorm-room windows.
The Location
The hostel has a great location for exploring the sights of Antwerp; most sights are within walking distance. The Antwerp Central train station and international bus stops are also easily accessed within a twenty-minute walk of the hostel. Being located in such a central location means you also can find a great range of restaurants and a supermarket right near the hostel. And the hostel is right above a restaurant so you don't need to go far to get a meal.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Antwerp City Hostel has a range of different dorm rooms available from four to twenty beds with both mixed and female-only options. The rooms are quite basic with squeaky metal beds and sheets that you have to put on yourself that are too small for the mattresses. There are fewer power points than beds, so if the room is full it could be difficult to charge devices. Lockers are available but a twelve-bed dorm has only six lockers (two of which were locked, despite no one else staying in the room) and you also can only securely lock them with a large lock or they still can be opened. Doors have keycard locks as does the front door, which makes the hostel quite secure.
The bathroom situation is pretty average, with only toilets on most floors and the showers all in one location on the third floor. Luckily, there are plenty of showers available, so you shouldn't have to wait even if the hostel is full; however, it is a press-button shower with no separate changing area, so it is easy to get everything wet. The sink area is also quite large and has lots of hair dryers available to use. Unfortunately, the toilets are quite dirty and you have two urinals right next to the sink in a unisex bathroom.
Common Spaces
The hostel has a pretty cool-looking basement common area where you can also get a free continental breakfast each morning. The basement has a small bar as well as a games and lounge area, so it's a nice place to relax after a day of sightseeing. When it's busy this would be a fun place to meet other people, but during the off-season it is not social at all. You also have a shared kitchen where you can cook basic meals if you want to save money. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hostel, and the front desk has a great collection of Use-it maps for Antwerp and other cities. You can also use some computers during reception hours or leave your luggage in storage. Be careful when you plan to arrive to this hostel though, as reception hours are quite limited (at least in the off season), so you might have to check in at a nearby hotel. There is also an elevator so you don't need to worry about climbing the stairs with luggage.
Summary
Overall, Antwerp City Hostel has a really central location with lots of good facilities, but some things could be changed to make the stay a little bit more comfortable.

Location
• From the Central Station it’s a 20 minutes walk. You can take the metro nr 3, 5 or 15 for 3 stops to â€Groenplaats†than you have to pass the cathedral to the Grote Markt and there we are. Tram cost 3 euros.
• A taxi ride takes 10 minutes and cost about 12 euros.
• From Antwerp Airport you can only take a taxi, it will take about 15 minutes (depends of traffic) and will cost about 20 euros.
• From Brussels International Airport you can take the train every 30 minutes directly to Antwerp Central Station in 30 minutes and will cost 11.20 euros.
