• By Bus: From Chennai International Airport, you can take public bus number 18. This runs from 5 a.m.-10 p.m., with frequent stops in the cities. The bus stop is just outside the airport gates. Take the bus to High Court bus stop and change to bus 54 to Poonamallee and get off at the Pachiappas College stop.
• By Train: When you leave Chennai International Airport, you can take the train from Tirusulam Railway Station. This is just outside the airport gate. From there you’ll need go down the Great Southern Trunk Road to the underpass running under the highway, which will bring you out to the station. The train will take you into the city to Egmore Station and runs every 20-30 minutes. Because Indian train stations are chaotic, it’s best to get your ticket at the rail service counter at the station. The train journey takes around 30 minutes, costing INR 12 for 2nd class and INR 100 for 1st class (best option if you have luggage). Get off at Chetpet Railway station and go to the Ega Theatre side. You can either walk to the Tourist Information Centre or take a rickshaw from the Ega Theatre.
• By Taxi: You have two choices when coming by taxi. You can either take or a call taxi when you come out of the airport, or you can take a rickshaw for a more authentic experience. Most taxi drivers won’t know much about Elements Hostel and how to get there (we’re quite small) so you will need to give a landmark. A good landmark is the Lifeline Hospital in Kilpauk. Most drivers will be able to find us that way.
