MuchoMadrid Hostel Reviews

Comfortable, friendly staff, excellent location

Hard to imagine a more central location, easy access pretty much anywhere! Staff speaks minimal English but very friendly and helpful in Spanish. Good wifi, very safe, only moderately communal in terms of space, but staff help to set clients up together. If noise keeps you from sleeping, maybe not the best choice -- decent bit of residual noise from the street at ALL hours (except maybe 6-8 am). Otherwise, an excellent stay!

Staff was amazing and helpful. The cleanliness and breakfast was good. It has a great central location, but because of this there will be noise.

What makes MuchoMadrid special is the extremely kind and helpful owners. They went out of their way to help me get acquainted with the city and were happy to help me with whatever I needed.

Great hostel ruined by sour ending

Like everyone has posted before -- well located, clean and tidy, well maintained, good value, and decent breakfast provided. Shame the manager withheld my 5 euro deposit, pretending he had already given it to me when he had definitely not.

Staying in MuchoMadrid was one of the best things of Madrid, literally. Although the city has much to show, it didn't cause me much of a thrill. The hostel, however, is absolutely well located, clean, and serves a delicious breakfast in a very convenient time for travelers. Not to mention that we can use internet for free! The only problem I found was the fact that nobody from staff spoke reasonable English, which made communication difficult.

MuchoMadrid is perhaps the best-located hostel in all of Madrid. Directly on Gran Va, it is literally within a couple minutes of three Metro stations. It is surrounded by theatres showcasing world-renowned plays and musicals, and less than ten minutes by foot from the Royal Palace, Puerta del Sol, Callao Square (which has many movie cinemas), and the Prncipe Po train station and mall.

The hostel is located inside an apartment building. A sign above the building’s doorbell gives the ringer number and apartment number. The friendly and helpful on-site owners are a middle-aged Spanish couple who have a wealth of information on tourist venues and sights in and around Madrid. They love to make friendly conversation. They even have a knack for introducing hostellers with things in common to one another to try to spark friendships. The atmosphere is quite cosy and friendly. The common room is located next to the front desk, so the owners are able to have conversations with the hostellers. There is also a TV, but it has mostly Spanish channels. Hostellers generally congregate in the common room to chat but tend to go out for fun. There is a no alcohol policy within the hostel itself, but there is no curfew and hostellers are free to come and go at will.

The facilities are very clean. There are three bathrooms and two showers, which is more than enough for the size of the hostel. Be warned however that the showers do not have curtains on all sides, so one must take care not to spray water out the back of the shower. The IKEA-style beds are a bit flimsy and give the impression that one needs to be delicate with them, but they are functional and relatively comfortable. Linens and towels are included for free on the condition of a small deposit, and access to bedside lockers is included for free. An added plus is that two of the three rooms have balconies with a wonderful view onto Gran Va -- lit up at night, Gran Va is a truly spectacular sight. The included breakfast is ample and tasty, with toast, jams, tea, coffee, milk, and cereal all on offer. The kitchen is free for use outside of breakfast hours. Free internet is provided, but one has to ask for permission from the owner before being allowed to use the computer.

MuchoMadrid is a wonderful hostel. The location is its biggest plus, but the comfortable setting, friendly atmosphere, and helpful owners make the hostel a true gem.

I really enjoyed my stay at Mucho Madrid. The rooms are spacious and with four people per room there is more than enough space. The bathrooms were in excellent condition and I never had to wait in line to use the bathroom, which is always a plus. The location of the hostel is good because it's on one of the main streets of Madrid so there are always people around. As a female travelling alone I never felt unsafe returning at night. For breakfast they have cereal, toast, jams, cake, juice, and brewed coffee, a nice change from the powdered variety offered in most other hostels. Another important aspect of this hostel is that it is not very big, so you get to know most of the people staying there. While I was travelling alone, I was able to meet interesting people with whom I went sightseeing. I had a great time, but do remember to bring earplugs. There is a lot of noise from the street, especially early in the morning (and the girl at reception watches TV all night and laughs really, really loud).

This hostel is clean, safe and relatively central. There are four well-equipped bathrooms and you get a generous breakfast (toast, jam, chocolate spread, juice and cereal). The bedrooms also have big lockers in which there is more than enough room to store a backpack plus a few extras, and the owners will let you leave your luggage there all day on the day you check out if you're not moving on until the evening. The location can seem a little seedy at night but there are always lots of people around and you have to buzz to be let into the hostel itself so it's perfectly safe. The people who run it are lovely and took lots of time to tell my friends and me about good places to go to eat and drink at night.

This place almost ruined my vacation and causes me great stress. They have a strange policy of charging your card then when it goes through they refund the money two days later,,, but recharge your card minutes later causing a security problem. This blocked all access to my main source of funds. My card company said it would take two working days to remove the security block leaving me with 10 Euros and because the second charge for the room was blocked no where to spend the night. It was o

This place is great if you're OK with little quirks. My husband and I stayed in a private room with an ensuite. I was really pleased that they provided a towel and extra blankets. I wish they would have cleaned our room or offered information on where to dispose of garbage. Normally, I would not expect this from a hostel, but we were not permitted to flush toilet paper in the toilet. So our bathroom garbage was filling quickly. Overall, it was fine though.

Perfect location! Air conditioning was very necessary and welcomed! Everything was clean, modern and nice.

Very nice location and helpful staff, nice and comfortable bedrooms, unfortunately because of the pandemic there are people living long-term in the hostel and had a bad experience with it.

Good stay. Would stay again.

The location is perfect - you can visit all main attractions by walking. The rooms are big and clean and the staff is very friendly. Definitely recommendable!

LOCATION! it is in the main street, walking distance from everything that is to be seen in Madrid. The stuff is VERY friendly, They made reservation for our transfer to airport. I was surprised with breakfast we had in morning. One word for Mucho is EXTRA!

Liked: Great location. Simple, clean, efficient and good value for money accommodation. Free wi fi great to have. Breakfast was an unexpected bonus The services were exactly as described online. I would happily recommend Mucho Madrid. Didn't like: Nothing to dislike

Very neat, modernized, and spacious. It's also in a great spot in Madrid, and there are lots of great things to visit nearby!

It's great location, near metro and all what u need! Great stuff! Very clean and beautiful rooms. It's actually feels like home, since it's a small hostel and very bright.Kitchen is very equiped with stuff and very clean. Breakfast is free and really nice. Also they have hair dryer! Lockers are in the room, which is very convinient! I will recommend this hostel to my friends for sure!

It was quaint and quiet and a the rooms were very spacious and not crowded. It was close to everything and 2 metro stops were only feet away. If stay here again for sure.

Liked: The location is so perfect!! It's in the heart of Madrid everything is close!! The stuff were so nice and helpful, and the hostel in general made me feel like I'm home! The hostel was super clean and very safe!! Didn't like: The beds weren't comfortable : They make lot of noises!!The floor is also disturbing you will here the steps of everyone passing in the hall or even in the room!!Those two noises made it hard to sleep at night !!

Centrally located, lift, clean and very helpful staff.

Liked: I stayed in a four bed mixed dorm and what I liked most was that they were all normal beds rather than bunkbeds. Small and basic but for the location was very good value for money. Other guests were friendly. Didn't like: Very small kitchen and no communal lounge area. Perhaps not so good for long stays but fine for 1 or 2 nights.

The staff was really helpful, ready to give tips and answer any questions you could ask. The location is great (in the city center), the hostel itself is really clean and you'll be delighted to know that no bunk beds are in view. Lockers are provided in the room and the breakfast is more than enough: cereals, milk, bread, cofee, tea, marmelade...

Did what it said on the tin.
