Inversnaid Bunkhouse Reviews

Place Fine, But Food Terrible

I stayed one night at Inversnaid Bunkhouse. The Bunkhouse is isolated and there are no grocery stores or self catering options. We purchased dinner, breakfast, and a packed lunch for the next day. Dinner was fine but expensive. The big problem was breakfast The two guys working their stayed up all night loudly playing guitar. The next morning, breakfast was supposed to be at 8. At 8:30, I had to go WAKE THEM UP to get breakfast. In the end we had 1 bowl of cereal (it's not a hot breakfast) for 4.50. We had also purchased the packed lunch, which for 5 was two cheese sandwiches (shredded cheese on stale white bread with a blob of chutney on top), a flapjack, water, and fruit. We had a late start to our day and were not happy with the breakfast or lunch provided. We actually waited until we were starving so that the cheese sandwiches would be eatable.

Excllent -- Dave and Nick looked after us and the food was delicious

Our family stayed at The Bunkhouse 19/20th June 2009, my nephew was taking part in The West Highland Way run. I cannot praise The Bunkhouse high enough, the accommodation was very clean, the food was first class, our Lasange was freshly made, and the Apple/Sultana crumble -- well done Nick. Dave could not do enough for us we even borrowed their Cell Phone to enable us to get a message so that we could meet my nephew at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, when he run in at the checkpoint at the car park. Thank you both for your hospitality. If you are in or near Inversnaid stay there.

Stayed at Inversnaid whilst walking the West Highland Way. Inversnaid is the best hostel on the route... amongst some pretty stiff competition.

The place and the people made us feel right at home. And they serve a damn good pasta alla bolognese!

Inversnaid Bunkhouse :
"The essential stop on the West Highland Way for walkers who want to feel as good at the finish as they did at the start"
Originally a 19th century church, now converted into quality budget accommodation and a licensed coffee shop. Inversnaid Bunkhouse is a unique hostel with facilities specifically designed to rejuvenate and refresh both body and mind! Complete with original stained glass windows, in a truly serene setting, the bunkhouse provides a welcoming retreat in a totally unspoilt part of Scotland. We are located on the east shore of Loch Lomond, only 800m from the West Highland Way, in the heart of Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park.

We aim to provide walkers with the best chance to fully enjoy their own challenge by providing facilities to help them rest, recover and prepare for the next stage of their journey. We have travelled extensively ourselves and understand the needs of weary trekkers. We provide foot spas, massage therapy and an outdoor hot tub: the ultimate recuperation for tired aching muscles!
Accommodation consists of 6 rooms sleeping 2 - 4 people in each room. All bed linen is supplied and towels are available for hire. There are male and female shower blocks, a boot/drying room and a laundry room. Single and family rooms are available on request. Meals and breakfast are served in The Snaid Coffee Shop, and packed lunches are supplied on request. Massage treatments should be booked in advance, if possible. Or you may be lucky if the masseur is already on the premises.

The Snaid Licensed Coffee Shop offers good food and drink all day, a great selection of Real Ale, Continental Lagers and fine wines, and a place to relax and chat to fellow travelers. There are lots of games and books, 2 computers with internet access, TV, videos and games consul. For WHW walkers we offer continental breakfast & packed lunch.
