Hostal Bambú has a rustic charm in the middle of downtown San Agustín.
The Location
Hostel Bambú is only a short walk from the main plaza up the hill where you catch the buses into and out of town. There are quite a few different smaller shops to buy food if you're planning on cooking and a couple of different restaurants around as well. The main park with the archeological artifacts is about a half an hour walk from the hostel.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The rooms here are large and spacious, and best of all, no bunk beds. Everyone has their own bedside table and power outlet for charging electronics and there is an extra one near the door if people have more things to charge. The beds are super warm and are comfortable. To keep the airiness to the atmosphere, there are windows and a door on to a balcony that you can open and hang a few clothes to dry.
There are several different bathrooms around, some with combined shower and toilet and some separate. The showers have really good hot water, which is a luxury in some of these parts. The rooms are kept well cleaned.
Common Spaces
The hostel has three floors to it and places to meet people and hang out on the top two. The middle floor has a small kitchen where you can cook your own meals and keep food that you are wanting to store in the fridge. There are also tables and chairs in this area for eating or just sitting about and having a chat. There is a book exchange on this level as well, though it is sparse.
The third level is a terrace with stunning views over the area. They have hammocks, tables and chairs, and games on this level as well, making it a great chill-out place.
Summary
This hostel is bright, colourful, and has a super rustic feel to it. The staff members are nice and friendly and can help you with park information, bus times, or organising a jeep tour to see other archeological sites that are a way out of the town centre. They have laundry for a fee, although there is also a place that you can hand-wash your clothes if you choose for free. They also do a rocking breakfast for a decent price in the morning too before you get started on exploring.

Location
When arriving with the bus to the center of the town, one should go until reaching the main square of San Agustin and then turn right (on Carrera 13). After turning right keep going straight for four blocks and the hostel will be on the right.
