Ostello Bello Grande hostel, located only a few steps away from the Milan central station, is a wonderful, artsy hostel with a warm, friendly atmosphere and lots to offer. It's well worth visiting!
The Location
Ostello Bello Grande hostel is very conveniently located on the street across from the central station, and not far from the city's main sights. There are plenty of cafes and grocery stores nearby, as well as a number of shops in the central station next door. We found a gem of a gelato shop nearby -- Terra Gelato, which serves a dazzling variety of delicious gelatos. Due to its proximity to the central station, there are quite a few panhandlers and homeless people in the general vicinity of the station, but the street where the hostel is located is quiet and safe.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The rooms are artsy and well planned for weary travelers. They contain sturdy bunk beds with very comfortable mattresses and pillows, excellent-quality bedding, and electrical outlets and mini-light with a basket storage shelf for each bed. There are giant lockers -- the largest we've ever encountered in our many years of hosteling -- which easily fit even full-size checked luggage. The bathrooms are very clean with good water pressure and plenty of hot water, and there are enough shelves and hooks for your things. Free toiletries are plentiful, along with other necessities like toothbrushes and hair dryers. Towels are available for free along with locks for the lockers. They gladly supply extra pillows, blankets, and other unexpected luxuries. The rooms are very quiet and the curtains block the light well; however, the room can get a little hot unless if the windows aren't open. The corridors have sound-blocking doors and the room doors are also thick to prevent any noise from the common areas from being heard.
Common Spaces
The common spaces in this hostel are plentiful and welcoming. A large dining area with bar and self-service free food is located next to the main entrance. There is a game room on the basement level, and an indoor lounge with TV on the top floor. A fully stocked kitchen and additional dining area are also located on the top floor near the indoor lounge. The best common area of all is the rooftop outdoor patio, which is equipped with tables, chairs, benches, loungers, and even hammocks. The views are beautiful, and the opportunity to comfortably relax outdoors after a day of traveling without leaving the hostel is priceless!
Summary
Overall, we found Ostello Bello Grande hostel to be well worth visiting. There are plenty of opportunities to meet other travelers, as well as nice, quiet places to relax alone, if desired. The well-designed quiet rooms with comfortable mattresses and high-quality bedding are a positive contrast to a typical hostel. The free food and beverages at all hours, great dorm rooms, nice bathrooms, amazing common spaces, and overall positive atmosphere with a perfect balance between socializing and relaxing for groups and solo travelers make a very positive impression. We are pleasantly surprised by what this welcoming hostel has to offer and definitely plan to visit again!

Location and Contact
Location
• From Linate, Malpensa or Bergamo (Orio al Serio) airport, take the bus to Stazione Centrale (Central Station).
• Be careful: buses from Malpensa and Linate stop at the right side of the station, buses from Linate and Orio al Serio stop at the left side of the station.
• If you took the bus from Orio al Serio: once you get off of the bus, walk down the station for 100 meters in the direction of the main entrance; you will see a taxi stop on your left: turn left and cross the taxi station, walk for 50 meters and take the first street on the right: you found Ostello Bello Grande!
• If you took the bus at Malpensa or Linate: walk down the station for 100 meters till the main entrance, than turn left and cross the square to go on the other side of the station (so keep walking with the station on your left). You will see a taxi station in front of you, go straight for 50 meters and take the first street on the right: you found Ostello Bello Grande!
• If you are coming by train, turn left at the exit of the station. Cross the street and take the first street on your right: you found us!
