Decent hostel, not very social.
The hostel is a short bus ride from the main train station. Once you drop off your bags, its not a bad walk into town. I did it a few times while I was there. The signs indicating the hostel are not as clear as they'd make you think, so make sure you have a good idea where you're going when you get off the bus. Wifi was pretty shoddy. Only works in the lobby and the network they use kept blocking me. Lockers require 2 Francs to use. You get the coin back at the end, but still seems unnecessary.
This is a pretty good place to stay. It's nice and clean, but what else do you expect in Switzerland? Free bed sheets, free locker, free shower. It's pretty far away from everything and really hard to find -- it's on a back road around a bend with no signs on the main road. Just DON'T use the internet there! It is a TOTAL rip off. 1 Franc for 5 minutes. The computer froze when I paid for 10 minutes and the staff just shrugged and said, "Not my problem."
- location was good, not far away from center, and close to Rotsee lake and to beautiful nature
- the room is clean, but I couldn't find an available locker in my room
- the staff is fair and helpful, and quite more formal than welcoming
- WC lamp was not working
- I didn't know that I would have a visitor card free transportation when I arrive to hostel, I prepaid a day ticket because this info was missing.
in anyway you need to buy a ticket for a bus to go there, first
For a youth hostel there were a lot of families. As a younger traveler I was hoping for a more social and young demographic. The word youth is misleading. However, the space was clean and the bathrooms were alright. Not a bad stay but I would not choose it again.
This turned out to be a good option for reasonably priced accommodation in Lucern. It is a fairly standard/typical large Hostelling International hostel. Meaning it is functional, clean & well organised. Its a little out of the centre of town but the bus runs frequently.
Fine hostel for a night in Lucern. It was underwhelming and surprisingly a ton of families. Like it was mostly little kids running around. The breakfast was a nice bonus and luckily we got the 4 bed room alone to two of us. The location was fine and the bus line takes you right downtown. The staff was nice but sort of not present. Overall, dont not stay here if you want to stop on Lucern, but dont expect a whole lot
sleeping in a full booked 20 people room? not aymore
Lovely clean hostel, social atmosphere in common room, would stay again !
Good hostel. Best part was the breakfast. A bit of a walk to the lake but its not too bad. Nothing too special about this hostel, good place to stay to see Lucerne, especially with the breakfast.
Amazing! The breakfast is the best one I have had in a hostel. The building is very nice and clean. The beds are comfortable, there are lockers inside the rooms, and the staff is super kind.
Ive stayed here before and its a good place, super affordable for Switzerland. Staff are friendly and accomodating, facilities have been updated and its nice. The area is gorgeous to walk around and you can get the busses for free to/from the hostel so I think its easy to get to
My bedroom door key stopped working in the middle of night, when I went to use the bathroom (located outside the bedroom area).
There was no one for help in the property. God forbid, if something happens to you, your only option is probably 911.
No one picked up helpdesk phone. I was told next morning that their lines were down.
I ended up sleeping outside, almost all night in the lounge area on a couch.
Plz try to avoid this property, if you can.
if you want to stay somwhere that is cheap but has all that you need, you can stay here.
The Breakfast was good and in general the expirience was nice.
Cleanliness was missing. Shared bathrooms were not properly maintained.
Nice place to stay ...
But prices with memvership card are the same on hostel world with no membership... that s not fair...
The hostel is very clean, easily reached by public transportation (which is free). The breakfast is very good, the staff is helpful and kind. I really enjoyed my stay.
I wouldn't recommend that hostel.
The location of the bedroom is directly on the freeway ,cars are passing by all night and very noisy to sleep.
The smell of the room was full of weed !,I don't know how there is no control to avoid people smoking inside.
Staff is not so helpful, when you ask them a question they don't exert an effort to help you or explain though it is a hospitality sector, they didn't even highlight that lockers exists in the room neither that they need coins in CHF to use it.
Closed at arrival time. Could not book the reservation. Very far from city center.
Had good signage to be able to find it from the bus stop
free breakfast
Super clean, super helpful staffs!
Liked: Sufficient bathroom Didn't like: it was a little far from the subway station
