Yard Hostel & Coffee Shop's location is in a very central place on the main pedestrian street Kobylyanskoi. It is a very beautiful area. Also it is easy to meet other people in the coffee shop.
The Location
The hostel is located very well. It is very close to the main square, on the beautiful main pedestrian street Kobylyanskoi of Chernivtsi. As it is situated in a backyard (thus the name), you do not feel disturbed by the buzz. Still, because of the adjoining coffee shop run by the hostel, it is a very lively place where you can meet fellow travelers.
Chernivtsi’s centre is not very big, so you can walk to the sights by foot. A supermarket is also close, about four minutes on foot. The famous university is maybe ten minutes away on foot. The bus station is four to five tram stops to the south, and you can get there using public transportation in under twenty minutes.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel has two dormitories, to reach the upper dormitory you have to use a staircase from the lower dormitory. The rooms and the hostel in general are clean. Lockers are in the rooms, but they are not big enough to fit a carry-on-sized bag in them. The beds/mattresses are comfortable.
Unfortunately there is only one bathroom with the toilet and the shower in it, so you might have to queue at peak times when there are a lot of guests staying at the hostel. Also the toilet seat is too small for the toilet, meaning that if you sit down, your legs touch the (maybe dirty) ceramic. The toilet seat cover also does not fit -- several times it came down, touching our back while sitting down. They definitely have to fix that.
Common Spaces
There is a big terrace on the upper floor. Also there is a small kitchen. Basically the adjoining coffee shop serves as a common space, and it is full of people generally. Also students from the university come here to have a cup of coffee or to play games.
Summary
This hostel is good! Except for minor things (like only one bathroom, toilet seat, and small lockers), there is not anything really bad about this hostel.

We are the only one hostel in city with its own Coffee Shop! And for sure you gonna like it! It is not only about the best coffee in town, but for various fun activities we offer. In order for you to have fun we have the best board games: UNO, Monopoly Millionaire, Scrabble, Alias, Mafia, Dominoes and many more coming! Another thing is our bookcrossing point with vast range of books. Football fans will definitely adore our huge LED TV as we stream every game in HD quality. If you don't have your own laptop with you, no worries, we've got few of them for you! Oh, and please do not forget about 7 % discount at our Coffee Shop.
We offer 2 kinds of accommodation: 2 dormitory rooms with airconditioning (12 & 6 beds respectively) and private room (accommodates 2 people, has private balcony with table and chairs). Linens and towels are provided for each guest.
Every floor has a toilet and 2nd floor is equipped with shower. Fully equipped kitchen is available for our guests. Wi-Fi is free of charge and covers the whole place.

Our place is easy to find. If coming from railway station just take trolleybus №3 or 5 (1 stop only and get off at Shkilna street), various numbers of buses (1 stop only and get off at Shkilna street). Keep walking straight to the Central square and enter Kobylyanska street a little bit at your left. Pay attention to the arch right after Chicken Hut fastfood, our signs will guide you. If coming from the main bus station take trolleybus №3 (get off at Gogolya street) or various number of buses (get off at Gogolya street). In case you want to take a taxi, ask driver to drop you off at the former Kobzar Shop (now jewellery shop) at the Central Square
