Cheers Lighthouse is a wonderful place to stay while visiting Istanbul. The staff -- from receptionists to bartenders and kitchen workers -- are incredibly friendly. The atmosphere is fun and friendly!
The Location
You can find Cheers hostels all around the city, but Lighthouse might be the most adorable one. The building looks funky and colorful and the restaurant has a fantastic view. The hostel is located in a quiet part of the Old City, very close to the sea. The main tourist attractions are nearby, and there are various means of transportation around to take you to the further parts of Istanbul. There is also a great selection of restaurants and shops around.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The actual Lighthouse building, which is beautiful and unique, mostly has private rooms; chances are, if you booked a dorm, you'll be staying at another building next door. The rooms are a bit stuffy at times, and could probably be cleaner and better ventilated; that being said, they are very nice and fancy rooms. The beds are comfortable, and there are large lockers under the beds. There are plenty of power outlets and even a desk and a TV. The rooms are also heated and have an air conditioner. You can get pretty comfortable here, especially if you plan on staying for a few days. The bathroom is en suite and it looks good; it is convenient to use (but could use some more hangers), there is a blow-dryer and even towels are free. Sadly, the bathrooms are a bit dirty and smelly as well.
Common Spaces
The restaurant is a great place to hang out, and it's where the complimentary breakfast is served in the morning; it's possibly the best buffet breakfast in town. During the day, it's a nice place to chat and chill, although we are a bit disappointed that they charge for basic hot drinks, such as regular tea or coffee, and the prices are quite high, too. At night, the place picks up the pace and the restaurant becomes a vibrant bar and the party goes on all night sometimes. There is free Wi-Fi that works great. There is also a friendly cat.
Summary
This place is a rather fancy hostel, and it's one of the priciest ones around. We did expect a little more than we got out of our stay, but it was a great stay nonetheless.

• How to get to cheers hostel
• From IStanbul International Airport: Take Havaist bus until Yenikapi station, thentake BN1 or BN2 bus until Catladikapi bus stop in Sultanahmet, cross the road, walk 3minutes from the stop to get to hostel.
• You may take a taxi to the hostel. It takes approximately 1 hour to get here .
• We also offer a pick up service from 50 Euro (1-4 people). Just email or call us with your flight details and we wıll organise for you to be met at the airport.
• From Sabiha Gokcen Airport:
• 1)Take 'Havas bus' to Taksim square. From Taksim take funicular to 'Kabatas' and from 'Kabatas' take tram to Sultanahmet. At the tram stop cross the road and walk through the hippodrome and walk down the hill towards the water front. Turn right on to Küçükayasofya street and turn left on to çayıroğlu street. We are located at the bottom of the street.
• 2)Take Havabus to Taksim Square, then from Takism take funicular train to Kabatas. From Kabatas take T1 tram until Sultanahmet station. Once you are in Sultanahmet walk towards Blue Mosque, pass the obelisks, walk down the road to Kucukayasofya Street, you will see taxi stop, the hostel is 20m behind taxi stop on Cayiroglu Sokak.

• From Harem Bus Station
• Take ferry boat to 'Eminonu' and then tram to Sultanahmet.
