Old Town Munkenhof is a hostel in the Old Town of Tallinn, Estonia.
The Location
Old Town Munkenhof is located at the east side of Tallinn's Old Town, about three minutes' walking from the Viru Gate. The hostel is very well located; Tallinn's Old Town is small and all places of interest can easily be covered by foot from the hostel. The hostel is just a few metres away from the city wall and many bars and restaurants are just a few minutes away. The old town square is only three hundred meters from the hostel.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Divided over three floors, Old Town Munkenhof hostel offers both private and dorm rooms. Dorm rooms consist of bunk beds with comfortable mattresses. While the rooms look nice at first, there are a few minor disadvantages. The door of the ten-bed dorm is quite noisy and the lock is quite vulnerable, so guests are frequently struggling to get it open. There are not nearly enough power outlets in the room. There are only four outlets in the ten-bed dorm, so bringing a powerbank can be useful. There are big lockers where you can put your valuables, or even a hand-luggage-sized suitcase. Upon check-in, you will receive a key for the room and the locker. However, you are requested to leave the key at the reception every time you go out, decreasing the safety of using a locker.
Old Town Munkenhof has a few bathrooms -- enough to avoid morning queues. Showers are only on the second and third floor, but there are also a few toilets on the ground floor. The hostel is very clean and good Wi-Fi is available in the entire hostel.
Common Spaces
A big part of the hostel's ground floor is the common spaces; all are very spacious. When you enter the hostel, you will see the reception first, which is attended day and night. There is a living room, consisting of two parts, including a TV, couches and comfy seats, a foosball table, and some board games. There is also a kitchen with all the utilities you may need to cook or store food.
Summary
Old Town Munkenhof is a great choice if you are looking for a hostel in Tallinn. The location is excellent and the common rooms are spacious. Some small issues -- like the amount of power outlets -- could be improved to make it the perfect hostel.

Location
• From the airport: The city centre is very close to the airport. A taxi to the guesthouse shouldn't cost more than 10 Euros.
• By bus: from stop nr 1. take the bus number 2 and get off at A.Laikmaa stop (6 stops). Turn left to Narva Maantee and walk straight until you reach Viru street (cross the road just after the roundabout). Walk down the Viru street and turn right to Muurivahe street. Walk straight until almost to the end of the street and turn left to Munga street. Our guesthouse is at Munga 4
• From the port:
• From A, B, C terminal: Go straight until Mere pst. Cross Mere Puiestee, onto Rannamae tee. Turn left and walk straight untl you reach Väike Rannavärav (there is a sign pointing to Hotell Schlössle). Turn right and walk straight (the street becomes Uus street after about 60 meters). Walk down the Uus street for about 250 meters and turn right to Bremeni Kaik. Turn left onto Vene street and walk 100 meters until you reach Munga street and turn left. Our guestouse is at Munga 4
• From the bus terminal (Tallinna Bussijaam) : From the main door go along the road to the tram stop. Take the tram nr. 2 (Ulemiste-Kopli). Get off at Viru stop (4 stops). On your right there is Valli street. Walk straight about 50 meters until you reach Viru street (there is a Mcdonalds on the corner) Turn left and after 20 meters turn right to Muurivahe street. Walk straight until almost to the end of the street and turn left to Munga street. Our guesthouse is at Munga 4
