Hostel Angelina - Old Town Dubrovnik - Southern pa Reviews

Hostel Villa Angelina Old Town is a clean and friendly hostel that offers a social and relaxed atmosphere, ideal for travelers (solo and group) who want to be centrally located and enjoy the happening vibe of the historic Old Town.

The Location

Hostel Villa Angelina Old Town is very well located within the walls of Old Town Dubrovnik. It is an excellent location from which to pick up the vibe of the town. The hostel is located across several buildings (all within Old Town) and gives guests a great opportunity to experience Old Town. The reception is easy to find and easily reached from the bus station, by bus from the port, or by taxi from the airport.

The neighbourhood feels very safe and is well lit at all times. There are a lot of people in the area enjoying the nightlife and the day-to-day life. The hostel feels private but not isolated. Shops and restaurants are found literally at the doorstep of the hostel.

Rooms and Bathrooms

As the hostel is quite large, the dorms are spread over several buildings within Old Town; all locations are great. The front door to the hostel as well as the dorm rooms are all lockable. There are lockers available (you must provide your own lock), but they are not large enough for a seventy-liter backpack, instead offering just enough room to fit personal valuables. There is limited space for backpack storage, especially for those who are on top bunks. There are ample amounts of male/female showers and toilets available to be used by guests. These rooms are cleaned daily. The hostel provides towels and linen for each guest and bathrooms have hand towels and soap.

Common Spaces

The kitchen is large enough for more than one person to use at a time. There is communal food cupboard as well as a guest cupboard with a naming system in place. The fridge provides enough room for all guests to keep food cold and fresh. The kitchen offers full facilities for guests, including stove and oven. All pots, plates, and kitchenware are available for guest use also. The kitchen joins with bench seat and table for food preparation or dining. Outside the kitchen is an outdoor area where guests can hang out or dine. At night, guests are able to use the outdoor terrace for drinks and nibbles before it closes at 10 p.m. This is not a loud space; it's great for meeting people or relaxing.

Hostel Villa Angelina Old Town is a great hostel with superb location that's great for solo travelers or groups. The atmosphere is great for meeting people or for relaxing away from the busy Old Town centre. The hostel is easily found and located near shops, restaurants, and popular Dubrovnik sights. It's recommended for those who want to make the most of their time in Dubrovnik.

Hard to get to and very cramped

Liked -- Air-conditioning, friendly staff, good Wi-Fi, full kitchen, close to all main attractions. Disliked -- Physically grueling to get to, they don't tell you about the downstairs bathroom, rooms and shower stalls are very small. Overall -- While I liked the staff here and the day-trips that they offered, I probably wouldn't stay here again, as you have to climb a ton of steps with your heavy bags to get there, and they've made all of the spaces in the hostel, including the rooms, as small as possible because of the cost of being in the old town. If I were to return to Dubrovnik, I would try to find a place outside of the old town, where groceries would be cheaper and getting there wouldn't be such a slog.

Great Location, nice room

Two of my friends and I rented a room at Hostel Villa Angelina Old Town. The room was a bit tight (as expected), but in a prime location in old town and well appointed.

Great Hostel

I really liked this hostel, it's cosy and the staff are all really lovely with plenty of suggestions of where to go.

Good location, reasonable price, well equipped, and very clean!

Great hostel, near train/bus station and near old town to walk to, helpful staff and good kitchen. Near supermarket so very convenient. We came back to stay here after dubrovnik to fly home from split because it was so good.

Loved it

I had a great time at this hostel. The staff were fantastic, especially Dario. The rooms aren't massive but don't feel too cramped either. There's a kitchen downstairs for self-catering (supermarkets aren't far away). The verandah has a great view of the old town, a nice place to eat breakfast or dinner. A lot of people gathered there, so it was easy to meet people. You have to move inside at 10pm, but it was no problem, it simply gave the option of having an early one or going to a bar. There are a lot of stairs to negotiate on your way to the hostel, but if you don't want to go up and down stairs then there's only a limited part of Dubrovnik's fantastic old town that you'll see. I was sad to leave this place.

Cheapest Spot in Old Town, Not Great for Meeting People

I stayed here two Fridays in a row between group tours. Had hoped that people would be at the outside bar, but the place was absolutely dead of activity both nights, even though the hostel was sold out. Had much more fun roaming the streets and meeting people than I did at this hostel. With that said, though, I'm pretty sure it's the cheapest way to stay in Old Town. Ask for the 8 person room on the second floor, the four person room on the first floor is way too tiny.

Pretty Nice

Overall, this was a pretty nice place to stay. Pros -- rooms and restrooms were cleaned everyday, linens and towels were provided, showers were hot and strong, relatively quiet, located within the Old Town, and nice place to meet people. The kitchen was a bit cramped, but well stocked. Dario at reception was incredibly friendly and helpful, as was the lady that staffed reception as well, though I didn't catch her name.

Hostel Angelina - Old Town Dubrovnik - Southern pa Reviews from the Web

Dirty bathroom, the shower had only one door (all the water scaped to the floor), we hadnt space to hang out the wet clothes (in a room of 4 people), no wardrobes, just lockers, only three electrical plugs for 4 people insufficient, and its not cheap.

The staff is great. There are daily social activities. It would be a lot more convenient if they accepted credit card payment, but they only accept cash. Not sure why. I would be willing to pay card fee if there is one.

Amazing hostel- couldnt recommend it more!

Great location, great showers, everything really clean, but mostly really great vibe and free hostel activities. Come to this place definitely.

The overall stay was fine, hostel average. However, a couple issues to note which need to be addressed. The Google maps location is not for the main office. Google takes you up a million stairs to the highest point in the city, when you could check in at the main location, which is further south. This needs to be updated. Second, payment is in CASH ONLY. This is not stated anywhere in the reservation. Third, this is the most expensive hostel I've ever stayed at anywhere in the world.

The best hostel to stay in within Dubrovnik! The rooms themselves can be a bit tight but the atmosphere is incredible. Theres activities on every night from a sunset swim to cliff jumping to drinks to tours etc. Its also right in the heart of old town so you can walk everywhere. Met some awesome people, the staff are so friendly and the bathrooms are hotel level. You have to stay here if you come to Dubrovnik!

Great hostel! Multiple locations, mine was at the top of the old town but the view from the terrace was worth it. Nice Volunteers and activities available every night. Towels were provided and they had great recommendations for activities.

Good location in the heart of old town. Not a whole lot of privacy whilst sleeping also very loud bunks. Young staff were nice took us to some fun places before dinner. Great outdoor seating area to meet some friendly faces

Hostel Angelinas worked with my needs and provided excellent accommodations. They have two locations in the city so make sure to check which is which. Bathrooms were clean and well kept.

While I enjoyed the daily activities this hostel has, the deceptive way they place you into different buildings is not ok. The north building is a joke relative to the others. Up an incredible amount of stairs, tiny rooms that have no space for walking or packing/unpacking luggage, and one of the worst shower situations Ive ever seen in a hostel. It should be required they tell you which building you sign up for when you book and there should be a clear pricing difference.

I would give 0/10 if I could.

This was the worst hostel I have ever stayed at in my entire life. They have 6 different buildings and pack travelers (6 beds in 12sqft rooms). To be clear, the volunteers here are great, but management doesnt care about customer experience over making money

After this nightmare, I almost left Dubrovnik after 1 night. I decide to book an Airbnb (for the same price lol) the next night and am very happy I did. Crazy to think how bad management can ruin a trip.

This hostel is in a great location! The staff is friendly and helpful. Make sure to check in at the lower (south) building so you don't climb the 100 stone steps if you don't need to. The rooms are spacious and have lockers but you need to bring your own lock. The kitchen is spacious and the bathrooms were clean but there isn't any space to hang your stuff when you are in the shower so that was challenging to make sure none of your stuff fell in the shower with you.

Great stay in the old town building, however dont know if I would have enjoyed it as much staying in the annex. The hostel was very clean and the evening activities were a great way to get to know people. Towards the upper end of prices for a hostel, but thats just travelling in the peak season. Overall highly recommend staying.

Overall a good stay but we only stayed for one night. The only remark is that there are two buildings on opposite sides of the old city that are part of the hostel. So we went to the one listed on the address which turned out to be the wrong building. So a staff member took us to the other building up about 101 steps

Great stay, amazing location. Couldve been cleaned a little better before our arrival but overall was great

I stayed in a 6 dorm room and it was really good. The vibes of the hostel was really good there was an activity on every night that you could join. The showers where a little small but overall really good.

I felt very comfortable at this hostel

Most expensive hostel Ive ever stayed at but had a great time! I was in the smaller location up the hill, which was peaceful and had a great view. The hostel has volunteers that organize daily activities (ex. Cliff jumping, sunset beach time, etc) and you get to meet a lot of other travelers! Definitely a great social hostel with lots of travelers who are in their 20s.

I loved my stay at Hostel Angelina. It's in a perfect location, right in the heart of Old Town Dubrovnik. Beds were comfortable and the rooms lovely and air conditioned. Staff were so friendly and helpful with great recommendations. Kitchen and bathroom facilities all excellent too. It is such a social hostel with evening activities for everyone to go out and get to know each other, and a WhatsApp chat which makes finding friends to hang out with during the day easy! I'll be back!

Central, clean hostel with daily social activities making it easy to meet other travellers. Hostel staff at the front desk were friendly and good-humoured, and helpful with suggestions for local beaches and walking tours. Evening beach trips were a fun and cheap way to meet others in the hostel. The hostel terrace could have been better set up as a social hub, maybe adding a bit more lighting and with hostel staff perhaps coordinating socialising there after the beach trips.
