Hostal La Casa del Molino Blanco Backpackers is a quiet, clean, and friendly hostel located just outside central Baños. The hostel is a great place to relax if you're looking for a quieter atmosphere and is not an overly social hostel.
The Location
Baños itself is not too spread out, and so when arriving by bus the hostel should be a fifteen-minute walk maximum and is easy to find. A taxi is another option -- they are relatively cheap in Baños -- and one would get you to the hostel in five minutes. The hostel is located a ten-minute walk from Baños's centre and is found on a quiet, residential street up a slight hill and near the cemetery.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The rooms are very modern and clean looking, with bright white sheets and wooden frames for the bunk beds. The beds are very comfy and there are lockers in the rooms as well as some additional furniture including drawer. A set of keys are supplied, which include keys for the front door, the room, and the locker.
The bathrooms are very spacious and clean and look modern. They are very big with a lot of space in them to change. They include a sink, mirror, and powerful showers with hot water. If the hostel is busy, there could be a wait to use the bathroom.
Common Spaces
There is a bean bag and chill area located on the second floor. Though the area contains a lot of bean bags, it is rarely full and is more of somewhere to relax than to meet people. There are also books and a TV in this room, and so it could be quite social if there were enough people wanting to use it.
The hostel has a kitchen, which is open certain times of day, and is where you have the included breakfast in the morning. The kitchen is often closed for cleaning and is not a place to hang out.
The hostel has a small garden at the front where there is seating and hammocks. This is a well-designed and welcoming space although it is not often used due to the changeable weather in Baños. The hostel is very quiet and is a great place to relax, but not to meet fellow travelers. There is not one central meeting space for people to socialise and so guests are quite dispersed.
Summary
The hostel is clean and the facilities are great, but the hostel lacks a social atmosphere. The owners are very friendly and accommodating, and so if you want a relaxing time in between exploring Baños, then this hostel would be a great fit.

There are many things to do in Banos (www.banios.com) and at our small place ...relax in one of our social areas watching TV, make small talk outside in the garden with a nice cold beer, go online with friends or take a nap in the hammock. Maybe a great BBQ party tonight?
Enjoy our buffet style breakfast with homemade bread, cheese and marmalade. There is also the choice of ham, eggs, cereals, pancakes and fruit.
By the way ...we speak English, German, and of course, Spanish.

We are located in the San José neighborhood (barrio), three corners away from “downtown” with a really nice view of Banos. From our guest house you are directly on the way up to “La Virgen”, one of the few perfect viewing points of the city and a popular trail for a workout in the morning.
