Folk Hostel is a small hostel in the Old Town of Lublin, Poland.
The hostel is located on Krakowskie Przedmiescie, which is a pedestrianised street in the Old Town of Lublin. It is on the second floor of a large building, above a twenty-four-hour pharmacy. The entrance is, however, difficult to find, as it is not on Krakowskie Przedmiescie, but in a courtyard which is accessed from another street, Zielona, at the back of the building. This can be confusing, but the staff at the pharmacy are helpful with directions.
The hostel is about ten minutes by taxi or fifteen minutes by bus from Lublin train station. It is possible to walk in about thirty minutes. The main bus station is about fifteen minutes' walk away, or about five minutes by taxi. The airport is about twenty minutes' drive away, or it is possible to take a train to Lublin station, though the train only runs three times per day.
There are some bars and restaurants along the street the the hostel overlooks. However, the noise insulation in the hostel is sufficient to ensure that most guests should be able to sleep if the windows are closed.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel offers single and double rooms and dorms. The dorms have up to six beds in each, comprised of three bunk beds. Guests are provided with large lockers. The rooms are well decorated with bright walls and modern, laminate flooring. The dorms are spacious and airy, but some of the private rooms are a little cramped if fully occupied. Bed linen is provided to each guest. The bathrooms are adequate, with hot water and hooks for towels and clothes.
There is a kitchen with free tea and coffee provided, and also a fridge for guests to store food and a microwave. There is also a small, communal area for hanging out. It is open twenty-four hours, though guests are asked to keep quiet during the night. An iron and ironing board are also available, as is a safety deposit box for valuables.
Overall, Folk Hostel is an adequate accommodation choice for travelers to Lublin. The atmosphere is fairly quiet, despite the busy street outside. The twenty-four-hour reception is a good feature as some flights to the airport arrive late. Its location is convenient for many of Lublin's tourist sights, even if it can be difficult to find at first.
