HI - Tupiza - Valle Hermoso Hostel is a good, but basic stay.
The Location
The location of the hostel is only a couple of hundred meters from the main bus terminal in Tupiza, and a couple of blocks from the main town centre where you can organise money, food, and your tours through the Uyuni Salt Flats. The hostel itself is a tour company and they run the tours very similar to other companies, however be sure to shop around, because sometimes the price is better with other companies depending on demand and last seats. The staff here will however be quite aggressive with when you are booking your tour through them from the moment you walk in the door, so be firm but polite if you choose not to go this way.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The dorm rooms here are large and spacious and don't have bunk beds. The catch is that the dorm room is on the third floor of the building, so if stairs are an issue it might be better to stay in the sister hostel down the road, where they aren't an issue. The beds are comfortable and warm and a good night's sleep will be had.
They have two single bathrooms on each floor, all containing a toilet, sink, and a shower with hot water that runs on gas. They are small but clean and they serve their purpose.
Common Spaces
There aren't really any common spaces in this hostel. There is the open-front reception area, which serves as a tour agency as well and there aren't many chairs where you can sit. Otherwise, there is the courtyard area, which has nowhere to sit either.
There is a small kitchen for use of guests (not to be confused with the private kitchen) but you will have to ask the staff specifically where it is because no guest we came across could manage to find it on his own.
They have a breakfast room also where they serve two bread rolls between 8 and 10 in the morning included in the stay.
Summary
The Wi-Fi works pretty well here for these parts and the comfortable beds and hot showers are a bonus. One thing however, another girl arrived at the same time without reservation. Her given price was two-thirds less than people who booked online, a substantial amount of money in Bolivia. They are charging ridiculously high prices online due to "booking fees" that would be higher than any website fee. If choosing to stay and on a tight budget, this is something to keep in mind.

• It is located in one of Tupiza's main avenues at 184 metres (200 yards) from the train Station and 290 m (315 yards) from the Bus Terminal. It is also very close to the Independence Square, the Market "Gil Duran", and a short walk from the market place .
• Annex Valle Hermoso is located at just 130 metres(140 yards) from the Bus Station and 340 metres (370 yards) from the Train Station in the same Avenue Pedro Arraya, only a few steps from Hostal Valle Hermoso. Because of its location, the visitor has all that may be of interest to him close at hand, like the most important places in the city, including the Main Square (Plaza Independencia), the Market, Heart of Jesus, the slide, and so on, plus many restaurants, shops and other businesses.
• The Backpackers Hostel is located in the same Avenida Pedro Arraya, at your right hand, just 95 mts (100 yards) from the Bus Terminal and 370mts (400 yards) from the Train Station. The Main Square (Plaza Independencia) is at 490 metres (535 yards) and the Gil Duran market at 320 metres
