Description

The Hostelz.com Review

Our first impression of The Siem Reap Central Hostel is that it's a happy, friendly place where you can sit and relax at the pool, eat delicious food at the cafe, or do some work at the work space.

The Location

They are on the corner of the street, easy to find, with big enough signage outside. The building is beautifully decorated in bright colours, which feel very inviting. A wonderful advantage is the ATM right outside the hostel. There are plenty of cheap street food stalls just down the street and also a few restaurants. It's just a short walk across the river to the center of town.

Rooms and Bathrooms

Our six-bed dorm room is spacious and light. On the far side of the room is just window, with a large glass sliding door. This window is covered with a large curtain, which we have opened slightly to allow the natural light to stream into the room. The beds have sturdy metal frames, and the mattresses and pillows are comfortable. Each bed is equipped with a reading light and electrical socket. There is a shelf just above the pillow, which is in the way if you want to sit up in bed and read. The air conditioner is controlled by the guests. Underneath the bed is a large wooden locker that is so big, we can fit all our luggage in it. You need your own padlock to lock it, though. The room is also equipped with a large mirror, desk, and chair.

The bathroom is large and there is sufficient space to put your clothes and toiletries. After a long day of walking around at the temples, it's wonderful to come home to a hot shower.

Common Spaces

The ground floor of this hostel is all common area. On the one side is a big lounge area with large, comfortable sofas, and a crystal-clear swimming pool on the outside. On the other side is a computer area for guests, maps and tours desk, and a bar/cafe. The cafe is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and they make affordable and delicious meals, even including vegetarian and vegan options. This ground-floor space is bright, airy, and colourful, and makes you feel comfortable and at home. In the middle of this area is the reception, where the staff welcome you with big smiles and warm hearts. The Wi-Fi is fantastic. The whole hostel is very clean and neat.

Summary

It's difficult to leave this hostel, as we feel so at home here. We definitely recommend it as good value for money and a good place to visit when in Siem Reap.
