Of the hundreds of hostels that we have been to in the world, Tribu Hostel is hands down one of the best. The owners are lovely people and do their very best to accommodate you and whatever it is that you need. As travelers themselves, they know what travelers want and they have created an amazing hub that reflects what a traveler needs when on the road.
The Location
Only thirty meters from the beach, this hostel is in a prime location. It is approximately a ten-minute walk from where the ferry docks and a five-minute walk to all of the convenience stores, fruiterias, and any other shop that you may need during your stay here on the beautiful Isla Holbox.
Rooms and Bathrooms
This hostel is stunning. The rooms are all with wooden bunk beds and have a very artistic feel to it as the owners have tried to make the place have a very tribal and earthy feel. The beds are super comfortable. Each dorm room has a bathroom and a shower off the end of the room that you can use. The shower heads are great and all of the rooms and bathrooms are serviced daily. They are kept to a very high standard of cleanliness.
Common Spaces
There are an abundance of common spaces here. The kitchen in the upstairs region is very well supplied with things to cook and is again very clean. It is also large enough for many people to cook in at one time. From here there is a dining area with tables on the balcony just off the kitchen, where many people hang out to socialize. The ground level has an area with around ten hammocks hanging from the underside of the balcony, where people can all sit and socialize and relax. On some evenings they have bonfires in the garden area, where people can sit around and relax, but everything is always shut down at around 11 p.m. or midnight to allow guests to sleep, and partying is suggested for the beach areas after this time. There is also a cinema that runs movies on a nightly basis, and a book exchange in the reception area. They also have a cocktail bar, which runs from the building at the front on the second level during the peak tourist season.
Summary
The social environment here is great and it allows for people to meet, socialize, and get among the events and daily life of the locals on Holbox. There are bicycles for hire here and they also run kayaking tours through the lagoon, where you can experience some amazing wildlife here on Holbox. If you are coming to Isla Holbox, this is a hostel that is not to be missed -- five stars all the way!

Location and Contact
Location
• The hostel is located a 15 minute walk from the pier.
• Once you arrive on the island you keep walking straight on the main road, you pass the square and one block before the beach, by the corner store “Chakte”, you turn left. After you turn, keep on walking for another 100 meters (2 blocks and a half) and you will see lots of colors on your right side!
• If you prefer to take a taxi, the ride with the golf cart takes 5 minutes, for $30 MX pesos.
