Lovely clean hostel in a most charming town with a fabulous pub right next door!! The accommodations were wonderful ... best shower we had on THE WAY!!! E pub next door offered a wonderful meal and lovely music. The Hostel had a large kitchen providing plenty of fridge and freezer room for the travelers use. An outside eating area provided a great place to enjoy the complimentary breakfast. I only wish I had known, as I would have planned a rest day here to enjoy the town more.

The best Hostel ever
The Brandon Mountain Hostel is the best Hostel i have ever stay. Very clean, friendly, and a wonderful place direct at the ocean.
Mount Brandon Hostel is excellent -- it has a great location, is a great value, and it's very well run.
The hostel is on the eastern side of Mount Brandon, about sixteen kilometres northeast of the town of Dingle (Dingle is at the very end of the Dingle peninsula, on the south side). Cloghane is on the northern side of the peninsula, the village is at the head of a sandy estuary, which ushers a number of mountain streams into Brandon Bay (at high tide the sandy estuary is filled with Brandon Bay seawater, which comes right up to the garden at the back of the hostel). Cloghane is a pretty, one-street village, and this whole area is fabulous for walking, history, mountains, and fishing; it has some really fine sandy beaches.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel has very good rooms and excellent showers. Our room had just two bunk beds with ensuite toilet and shower (which is wonderfully powerful). Rooms are clean and comfortable, carpeted, and lockable. And they are very warm.
Common spaces at the Mount Brandon Hostel are first class. The kitchen is excellent and has everything you could want. The sitting room/TV lounge area is comfortable (with an excellent library of classics in Irish literature -- everything from William Trevor to Maria Edgeworth to an encyclopaedic "Shell Guide to Ireland" by Lord Kilanin from the 1950s or early 1960s, which is actually wonderful to read and browse through). The dining room is bright and clean, with about ten tables, each seating four people. The dining room is at the back of the hostel looking out over the estuary and bay; it is like a sunroom.
This is a really good hostel, and while it does not look big when viewed from the front, it continues a long way back. It is capable of accommodating up to fifty people. Michael De Buitlear, the very nice owner of the hostel, was there when we were there; he is a Dubliner who married a local girl. He is very helpful, open, and interesting -- he's a good host. Michael says most of his business is repeat bookings from groups using the hostel as a retreat centre and the like -- he is frequently fully booked out from these groups.
Good but not friendly
Very good, new Hostel -- clean too. But the Man that checked us in was really rude -- not at all friendly -- for that reason alone we would not return.
Very nice and beautiful hostel! The best I stayed!
It's a wonder it's not in any travel guide. We found it by accident. A very nice and clean Hostel! Very friendly staff. Good beds; clean bathroom and shower; nice big kitchen; living room with books, games, and TV. The Hostel is near the sea, with a magnificent view at Mount Brandon and the sea! The Pub next door serves excellent food (soup!). Close to Sleah Head and Dingle. It was a very nice stay at this Hostel. I can recommend it! We stayed in the room of the first foto at the right side of this page.
Right in the heart of the village of Cloghane, this place really couldn't be better located. It's an ideal walkers' hostel situated almost underneath Mount Brandon. It's clean and tidy with comfortable, centrally heated rooms. Great value in short, better than most accommodations available elsewhere for this price.
Mount Brandon Hostel Reviews from the Web
Liked: A very friendly welcome. Very good location for pub, shop....and it has public transport....even if only one day per week. Disliked: I would have welcomed a place for drying very wet clothes and boots....it is on the Dingle Way long distance footpath.
Liked: Very helpful and accommodating staff! Located in a beautiful area. Loved the view of the water. Disliked: Drain clogged in bathroom but otherwise felt fairly clean for a hostel.

Liked: Location for climbing Mount Brandon, safe carpark attached, next door to pub for lovely food, in dorm upstairs after requesting a move and the lovely sunshine shining into the room from Mt Brandon. Only 2 of us in the dorm so it was just beautiful. Disliked: The room we bought to upon check-in. Downstairs, musty, smelly, shower and toilet had no window, shower tray was dark brown so would not get into it, window advertised as double, ensuite with sea view, but you had to look through overgrown plantation and nearly put your head out the window to see anything of beauty. Not a scrap of soap either. Absol terrible double room.
Liked: Beautiful surroundings Disliked: Nothing
Liked: This Hostel is well kept, breakfast is way above average and you get a great variety of msli, bread, butter, yoghurt and milk. Mary is a perfect host and makes you feel at home. Hostel is in a very beautiful area and offers many opportunities for outdoor activities.
one of the best hostels i have stayed in. Disliked: nothing.
Liked: Location brilliant Disliked: The receptionist (a man with a German accent) was in the pub when we arrived, so the desk was unattended. He did not accept that we had a booking, until I produced our reference number. Luckily there was room for us. Later this receptionist was helpful showing us around and helped with the printer, etc. The other receptionist (Irish man, light grey hair) was v ery helpfu re. advice on local area.
Liked: Nice place to stay and start hiking sessions. Disliked: anthony left no negative feedback.
Liked: It was one of the best hostels I've stayed in. Its in a lovely little village, really close to Mount Brandon and had an extremely welcoming atmosphere; the hostel felt more like a home. Great location at the foot of Brandon Mountain
Great location, friendly hosts
Liked: The property was very clean and had everything you would require. The staff were extremely friendaly and nothing was a problem. Disliked: I didn't dislike anything about it.
Liked: Absolutely gorgeous location, especially coming through the Conor Pass from the southern side of the Dingle Peninsula. The hostel itself was very cozy with a friendly welcome. I didn't fully utilize the amenities, like the kitchen and sitting area, but it looked great. Disliked: The only complaint I had was that the bathroom had a huge number of insects in it. (I had to run my shower to drown a bunch of little flies that covered the shower floor.) Otherwise, the hostel was clean, quiet, and wonderful!
Liked: Amazing hostel right on the bay. The staff is fantastic! It feels more like a resort than a hostel! Love this place! Disliked: Nothing
