The Hostelz.com Review

Jimmy Jumps House is great for solo and small groups of travelers. It is a great way to get the vibe of this Lithuanian city, and you can be assured you’ll be looked after here at Jimmy Jumps House.

The Location

This hostel is well located within Lithuania’s Old Town, just a short walk from the main bus and train stations and easily found and accessible. It's in a great neighbourhood and close to supermarkets and souvenir shops. The city’s walking tours start from the main town hall, which is just around the corner from the hostel.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The ten-bed, unisex room is spacious and provides guests with a locker each plus bed (linen and pillow included) with curtain for privacy. Each bed has hooks for personal items and some beds are located close to powerpoints. The bathroom is joined with the bedroom and is also spacious; there is plenty of room for changing. It is noteworthy to say that the toilet and shower are in the same room but if they're engaged, there are additional showers and toilets outside the room.

The rooms are kept relatively clean and the shower provides plenty of hot water. The room is accessible by key card and the lockers require a padlock (not provided). Inside the lockers, there is a PowerPoint for charging your gadgets.

Common Spaces

There are several common spaces, both indoor and outdoor (smokers area), where guests can mingle. The reception is also a bar that adjoins the main common areas. There are beanbags and places to sit, also with plenty of charging ports. The Wi-Fi reaches all rooms, including the common rooms. There is a guitar, plus some board games to share. The hostel offers several activities, including a pub crawl where some shots and beer are included -- it's a great way for travelers to get to know one another. The guest kitchen has plenty of utensils for cooking and a fridge (with small freezer) for guests to store their food. There is an oven, stove, microwave, kettle, and the usual kitchen items.

Summary

This is a great hostel for solo travelers, as there are activities happening each night that encourage guests to mingle and meet others. The staff are very friendly and happy to help at any time. The included breakfast (two fresh waffles plus three topping options) is a great addition to your stay and can be upgraded for a small fee.

Hostelz.com Guest Reviews

Jimmy Jumps House is a fun, hip hostel right smack in the middle of Vilnius' historic Old Town. The hostel offers free breakfast -- fresh waffles made by the staff with Nutella and jam. Coffee and tea are free and available all day. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout, though it seems to work best in the main building's common area and in the hallways and kitchen in the second building. The staff are friendly and available to answer all questions related to Vilnius. The Location The hostel boasts an excellent location a block from the main square and Town Hall (also the meeting spot for the Vilnius Free Walking Tour). The hostel is a fifteen-minute walk from the main bus terminal. From the hostel, you can easily walk to anywhere in the city. It is also around the corner from the "Republic of Uzupis," the city-within-a-city and one of the coolest spots in Vilnius. You enter through a tiny (most people will have to duck!) door; the main building with reception is on the right and a newer, second building is on the left. All doors have secure entry. Rooms and Bathrooms Jimmy Jumps is a large hostel (though spread over 2 buildings, so it doesn't have a large-hostel feel) and has dorm rooms with four, five, six, ten, and twelve beds. There are also private rooms for two or four people. The rooms are spacious with sturdy bunk beds, free linens, and comfortable pillows. There are large lockers in the dorm rooms and they even contain power points so guests can securely charge electronics. We stayed in a ten-bed dorm in the second building. The room was en suite; however, there were numerous other bathrooms right outside the room. There is twenty-four-hour hot water and the rooms and bathrooms are cleaned daily. The bathrooms are spacious with ample space for towels, change of clothes, and toiletries. Common Spaces There are large common areas in each building of the hostel. The main building has a large kitchen/den space for hanging out and meeting other travelers. The second building has separate kitchen and den rooms. Both are spacious. The kitchens are well stocked. The hostel is a fun, social environment and it is easy to meet other travelers here. While Jimmy Jumps would not be considered a "party" hostel, such description would really depend on the people staying there. The hostel itself provides a fun atmosphere and organizes pub crawls for those interested in such things. It is also possible to get a good night's sleep. Summary Overall, Jimmy Jumps is an excellent hostel to stay at in Vilnius. It's location in the Old Town can't be beat. Vilnius is an incredibly cool city, and coupled with an amazing staff you will not go wrong with a stay at Jimmy Jumps.
