STF Goteborg Stigbergsliden Hostel Reviews

Nice place, marvelous staff

Staff people are very friendly and very helpful! Rooms are small but comfortable, good beds. Location is also good. Common area outside is very nice as well.

The Stigsbergsliden HI Youth Hostel is located west of the centre of Gothenburg, and is a short tram ride or a long walk (especially with lots of luggage) from the main bus and train station. Take tram number 3, 9 or 11 to "Stigbergstorget". A number of the ferry terminals to and from Copenhagen and other destinations in Europe are fairly close. There doesn't appear to be a lot happening in the area, however there are supermarkets and other small shops nearby.

There is a clean well-equipped double-kitchen for selfcatering and a dining room with a TV, as well as a backyard area with some tables for eating and space for hanging out. These areas are moderately social and are where you'll meet other guests. At the time of our visit Gothenburg was hosting a major event so the hostel was booked out with families, but it didn't appear to generally be much of a party' hostel anyway.

Dormitories are fairly comfortable and contain up to 8 beds. The hostel has a strange policy of requiring every guest to clean their dorm upon checkout or else pay for cleaning. In practice, it's difficult to make much mess and there's not much you can really do to clean anyway. There are some shelves for storage, but nowhere to store valuables securely. A good thing about the hostel is its flexibility when it gets full. The hostel also has additional rooms for a cheaper price when the hostel is busy, but it's not possible to book these ahead you must come and view them first. Some late arrivals were also allowed to pitch their tent in the backyard. It's worth calling about these options first though. It's also significantly cheaper if you have a hosteling membership card.

Bathrooms are clean however there are not many so you may have to wait when they get busy but there is usually no problem. Internet access is available, however quite expensive - a nearby internet caf appeared to be a better option but was never open during our stay. Information about things to do in Gothenburg is available at the hostel, and bikes are available for hire.

Excellent would definitely stay again everything was perfect . Its not in the center but I ask accessible by Tram few min ride

Nice hostel, right off of a very convenient tram line, and there's a nice square with restaurants nearby. The hostel itself is not the most social, but good if you want some alone time. Shared bathrooms were very clean. Overall, it was a very restful part of my trip.

Lovely staff very helpful especially on places to visit.

Breakfast was great loads to eat.

I think me and this hostel were a bad match. It was very quiet and the lack of bar/common room makes socializing near impossible. I think this is a great spot for family groups and not great for solo backpackers unless you're looking for a few days by yourself.

Nice location close to the popular Haga area and walking distance from the old city center. Make sure to walk up to the Masthuggskyrke that is on the hill above the hostel for a great view over the city.

The hostel is clean and the beds are comfortable. I arrived late but the staff arranged a possibility for a late check-in :)

During the weekends you can experience some noise from people partying at nearby bars (esp. if you decide to sleep with your windows open like we did haha).

Hostel staff were friendly and the kitchen facilities are clean, though no toaster or kettle. The garden was lovely in the evening but during the day works going on above on the hill so very noisy / even in rooms. There was no atmsophere at this hostel when I stayed but overall was alright. Best value hostel in Gothenburg.

Quite a nice hostel, just the lockers are quite small. Breakfast is good, rooms are cramped. Overall quite a pleasant place to stay.

The Hostel was very quiet during my visit, with little to no social areas for travellers, but the good bathroom and kitchen facilities made up for it.

Very convenient to city centre, 10 minute walk to central station!

Nice relaxed sitting room with TV.

Met lots of friendly travellers!

Only downside- rooms at front of building exposed to the noisy trams, running all night. Rooms at back much quieter.

Staff very helpful.

Stay was good and comfortable

We enjoyed our stay and were super glad to find the facilities to be very clean and useful!

Really great hostel that did the basic things really well. Staff at counter were amazing and so friendly which made you feel welcome. The location was great with a 10 minute walk to the main street, but worth noting lockers are very small - need to bring your own lock.

Room number 7 had terrible beds. The bunk beds made SOOOOO much noise that we couldn't sleep at night. Also, the upper bed is super close to the ceiling.

There could be more toilets. Only 1 (woman) for the whole floor.

The rest was very good. The place is nice overall and the kitchen is cosy and has all the facilities.

The receptionist is super welcoming and nice.

The wifi didn't work very well and there are were rats in the backyard (I saw them in every park in the city during the day, so I understand is common there, the backyard was part of a big garden in a little hill, I think there are like a savage ones, but anyway there were there taking food from the garbage, there wasn't anyone inside and everything was very clean).

One of the best hostels I have ever stayed in on my travels, and its also the cheapest in Gothenburg, staff are super super friendly and very helpfull, everything is modern, guest kitchen is awesome, it has everything you need, overall, very very good hostel and awesome bang for your money, I can reccomend it to anybody.

The hostel has everything you need, it is located really near Haga and the city centre and the price is more than okay.

One of the best hostels I've stayed in in Europe! The Friendly and very helpful Staff and Environment are great and the facilities and bedrooms are all A1! Couldn't reccomend it more! 5 stars for the lovely City Hostel of beautiful Goteborg!

Rocky from Ireland!

Amazing location, and the hostel facilities are great for the price! Reception staff are lovely.

My only critique is that when I left my card in the room (compeltrly my fault, of course) I could barely reach anyone (called three emergency numbers) and when I did, they could not help me.

Great staff. Easily and happily available after hours.

The hostel was in a great location. All the staff were really nice and catered to all our needs. We had all the facilities we needed and there was even a great outdoor section!
