Great hostel!
I really enjoyed my stay here. It's a great place to meet people, which really made my stay and the hostel is also very clean, which was important. Staff were friendly and helped me out with some great tips on things to do in and around the city. Overall I would definitely come back.
Villa Saint Exupery Gardens is an excellent choice for your visit to Nice. The service is great and the staff are always willing to help. They provide you with a map and there are also numerous tour booklets available for free. You can get all information you may need about Nice from the staff at the reception desk. There is a luggage deposit room in case you need it.
The Location
Villa Saint Exupery Gardens is one of the most interesting places to stay. There you can find everything you need to enjoy your visit to Nice. While it is not at a convenient distance from the center of Nice or from the train station (Nice Ville), the hostel is located in a beautiful area of the city, at the top of a hill. To reach the hostel from the center or the station you can take the tram, which runs very frequently. Furthermore, the hostel has its own shuttle running at fixed hours between the hostel and the beach.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Shared rooms are spacious and clean; beds are comfortable and bed linen is provided for free. The rooms are located in a series of buildings, which are nicely decorated. Shared bathrooms are also clean.
Common Spaces
The common area is spacious, with several tables and comfortable armchairs. In this area, you can also have access to a restroom and two showers. This is important when you have to wait for the check-in hour or when you need to wait after checking out. Coffee and tea are available at all times and always provided for free. You can also enjoy a free breakfast every morning, consisting of bread and marmalade, different kind of cereals, and coffee and tea. The garden is beautiful, with incredible vegetation. There are tables and chairs to enjoy your meals or spend some quiet time. The common area also has ten computers with free internet access. A W-Fi password is also provided.
Summary
The only disadvantage is that the hostel can sometimes be noisy, especially when the garden is crowded during warm nights.
The most interesting thing is that there is a twin hostel located close to the beach, the Villa Saint Exupery Beach Hostel. You can use its facilities whenever you go to the center or the beach.
Villa Saint Exupery Beach is a social party hostel, where you're sure to have a great night and a huge hangover in the morning.
The Location
The hostel is located in right in the heart of Nice, on the edge of the Old Town. Restaurants, gelato stores, shopping, and supermarkets are all within a stone's throw of this hostel. It is an easy, flat, fifteen-minute walk from the main train station. If you're up for heading to the beach and getting some sun to get over the night before, the Promenade des Anglais is only ten minutes' walk away.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The dorm rooms are of a generous size, most with the addition of an en suite bathroom. The bunk beds are high enough so you can sit upright on the bottom bunk. The mattresses are extremely comfortable! Each person is also allocated a locker, but bring your own lock (or they are available for hire). The bathrooms are well equipped, with a large shower and toilet cubicle. The showers have a really big shower head, which makes for good water pressure. Hot water is plentiful. Unfortunately, there are no shelves in the shower for your personal belongings. There are also no hooks within the cubicle, but there is ample space on the sink area for your clothes.
Common Spaces
The common spaces here are plentiful and conducive to making friends. There is a lounge area, dining area, and bar. The bar has very cheap drinks and provides a bowl of pasta with the purchase of certain drinks, meaning that you don't need to leave the hostel! Free tea, coffee, and hot chocolate are always available to guests, which is a great bonus. Wi-Fi in the rooms and the use of communal computers are also included in the price. Breakfast -- a large collection of cereals and toast -- is also included. Unfortunately, there is no kitchen, but there is a cafe providing decent food at backpacker prices. Laundry services are also available.
The hostel organises social events, such as a free walking tour and pub crawl. Mats and umbrellas are free for guests to take to the beach. Finally, there is a gym onsite if you're feeling extra athletic.
Summary
It's a hostel with a great atmosphere, but be prepared for noise in the night and the usual party hostel shenanigans.
Party Hostel
The hostel was ok. It was pretty far and you needed to take a shuttle which was a van driven by the employees. The showers were clear so anyone in the bathrooms could see through them. Our room was hot and humid which made it smell REALLY bad. The employees were like camp counselors didn't care much about their job. The men employees really enjoyed talking about boobs. It's a party hostel so if that's your type of scene it will be perfect for you.
Great vibe -- relaxing & party
One of the best hostels i've staying in around the world over the last 6 months. The two of us were in a 5 bed room and my bed was quite comfy. The communal area is large and gives plenty of opportunity to meet the other guests with a cheap bar and good dinners. The music goes on till about 12, but if you need to go to bed earlier, the bed rooms are well sound proofed that you don't hear any noise. The various gardens are a wonderful sanctuary to relax in. We could have stayed for much longer.
Excellent location but needs more
Sole female traveler -- booked 6 bed female room for 3 nights. The hostel is in an excellent location near the beach and close to transportation. However, it is currently undergoing renovations and the lobby/bar/eating area is always dusty. The room was a bit dated and could do with lamps for each bed to avoid individuals using the main light while others are sleeping and the bathroom could do with a couple of shelves. Overall my experience was average as the elevator broke the first night I was there and was still not working when I left. The bathroom also kept flooding (but I believe this had more to do with the way some girls were using the shower).
Comfortable stay, helpful staff, and nice location
We stayed for 4 nights at Villa Saint Exupery Gardens and our experience was more than satisfactory as the staff were highly dedicated and always ready to help with a bright smile on their faces and the shuttle service was of extreme help too. We liked the beautiful location of the villa and the view of the city from our room was really a feast for the eyes.
Great organization and good facilities at a reasonable price.
They are seriously organized. They will help you plan your life if you want. Great staff. Location is far from the center of Nice, but it's not really a big deal. Dorm rooms are merely that. No lockers in mine, but the front desk was able to keep my valuables. Good common area/bar. Great kitchen to use. Average breakfast of cereal and bread, but it's included. Stay here.
