This is a great place to stay and fairly cheap for one of the wealthiest countries in the world! The staff are incredibly friendly, and it feels a lot like a hotel rather than a hostel. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, then this is the hostel for you!
Luxembourg City is built in and around a valley, so getting to the hostel can be difficult if it's your first time. There are tons of winding paths that trail off in all directions, and it can get confusing. Google Maps is extremely helpful in this regard, and prior to your arrival you should download an offline map of the area. Your GPS will still work without any connection, and you can use that to make your way to the hostel, which is at the bottom of a steep hill. Despite its location, the restaurant veranda has an amazing view, so it is worth the hike. The city also offers a 7-day bike pass, with a station not too far from the hostel. Rides under 30 minutes are free, but anything beyond that will incur a fee. This is extremely helpful in getting around and strongly recommended!
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel rooms and bathrooms are wonderful. They are spotless and each day, cleaners will come through to mop the floors and clean the bathrooms. The mattresses are pretty average, but you will still manage to get a comfortable night's sleep, no doubt about that. If you happen to have a room on another level, you will have to carry your luggage up a flight of stairs because there are no elevators. There are lockers available in the rooms (no lock provided) and if you're lucky, you will have hangers to hang up your clothes.
This is where the hostel somewhat disappoints, depending on what you're interested in. There's a lobby, but it's not very big and a restaurant (though most people sit in their groups). There's also ping pong tables and a room with a snooker table, but unfortunately no one seems to utilize these spaces. The bar forms part of the restaurant and is also quite small, so if you like to party you will have to make a trek up to the city. Don't be too alarmed, there are some popular bars close by (less than 10 minutes away) which get a bit rowdy on Saturday nights.
Overall, this hostel is highly recommended. It's the only one in Luxembourg. There are not many options, but Luxembourg is a beautiful city and one that is often overlooked by travelers. If you want to do it cheap, then seriously consider this hostel. It's well maintained and beautifully designed.
