Base Pipi Patch -- definitely the party hostel in Paihia -- is located in the "hostel road" of Paihia, about ten minutes' walk from the pier and city center.
The Location
All buses (Magic, Stray, Kiwi) will drop you off right in front of the hostel. If you book a tour, you will also be picked up at the hostel. It is a two-minute walk to the beach, you will pass a (very small) supermarket and a liquor store on your way. On the ground floor you will find the Pipi Patch Bar, which is highly frequented by backpackers every night.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel offers dorms of various sizes. Each room is en suite with one toilet/shower with a window and also a small kitchen with a fridge. The rooms are very clean. If every bed is booked, there is not much room to store your belongings. Lockers are not available in the rooms. All of the rooms have windows. Linen and blankets are provided free.
Common Spaces
On the ground floor, there is a kitchen area available. The fridges don't look very clean, but the rest of the kitchen is nice and equipped for cooking (plates, silverware, pots). Next to the kitchen is a common room with couches and a big TV, and there is an outside sitting area in the back. There are also computers available if you want to use the internet (however you will have to pay for using the internet). Wi-Fi is also available. The bar is next to the common area and cheap drinks are available every night, and frequently you can eat from the BBQ grill there for a small price. The hostel also has a small pool and a spa pool outside.
Summary
The common areas and the kitchen will be locked in the morning until the receptions opens at 7 a.m., so if you need to check out early or go on a tour, you might have to sit outside and wait for your bus.

Great Vibe, Helpful Friendly Staff, Great Bar, Great BBQ, and Awesome place. Best suited for young travelers.
Dangerous beds! Full of bedbugs. Not happy!
Didn't liked it too much. Really the hostel where Stray and Kiwi experience drop off their customers.
Pipi Patch is awesome!!! Such an awesome atmosphere to this hostel. It's in a very good location too, by the water, near some good pubs. The staff here are friendly and helpful. I ended up staying here for two months in stead of three days. Great 7 p.m. barbecue they offer as well. Cheers!!!
I stayed in a dorm and I found the rooms to be too small and cramped. It also seemed like too much of a party hostel to me. If you want relaxation this is not the place to stay.
I stayed here for three nights and it was okay. It is very friendly and the bar is great; however, it is swamped with people from the backpacker buses who all know each other and tend to dominate. As a result the staff are not that friendly and the communal kitchens are badly looked after and stocked. There was one hob working in the entire kitchen. The pool is the size of a jellybean. Stay somewhere else and visit the bar.
