Hostel La Candelaria is a perfect, little, colourful hostel, right by one of the nicest areas of Valladolid.
As it's located just a couple of blocks away from the bus terminal and the main square, you are right in the perfect spot to explore everything that this beautiful town has to offer. You have all of the main shops, markets, restaurants, and supermarkets nearby, and the square out front is lovely. Valladolid is small enough to enjoy on foot, but you can also hire bikes and you can ride to the nearby cenotes to escape the intense heat of the city.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel is in an old house and the dorm rooms are spacious and have plenty of room and lockers large enough for people to store their bags. They are clean and some have air conditioning; those that do not have fans, which do suffice even in the heat. The bathrooms are sort of scattered around the hostel, with one inside, then a few more outside, and then some more at the back of the garden. The bathrooms are large and spacious, but can get a little flooded when showering, but not to worry -- every one has a mop to help out the next guest.
This hostel has a ton of common areas sort of just scattered around the place. There are little lounge rooms on every floor, and they only have the Wi-Fi working in the common areas to encourage people to interact. There is a small lounge upstairs with a little patio overlooking the square and another one downstairs by reception. They have a fully stocked, large outdoor kitchen for guests to use and where they whip up the delicious free breakfast in the morning. You also have a nice, outdoor garden area as well as a sort of terrace on the upstairs level with plenty of seating for the whole hostel -- just be prepared for the local mosquitoes. They also provide you with free drinking water. Reception is twenty-four hours and you are provided wristbands to show upon entry, so safety is no problem.
This is the perfect little hostel with a real homey feel, with a ton of space for the amount of guests they can accommodate and a delicious free breakfast in their garden every morning.

A quiet and friendly place to stay while visiting Valladolid.
This well run hostel is located very close to the center town square, just a few blocks from the ADO bus station. It was easy to find and is in a great location for your time in Valladolid. The hostel is located adjacent to a quiet little public park, Parque de Candelaria. There are plenty of restaurants, shops and markets all with in easy walking distance from the hostel.
Rooms and Bathrooms
There are a variety of rooms to choose from. There are dorms, private rooms or rooms with ensuite. Private rooms have good locks on the doors. Lockers are also available in the building. The shared bathroom facilities provide privacy and separate shower rooms with space for your things are clean. There are many located throughout the property. There are hand washing sinks located also near the bathrooms and throughout the property with soap dispensers. A standard double room provides simple accommodation with a double bed, table and one chair. The room has a safe box, good lighting and a ceiling fan and window for good ventilation. Rooms are brightly painted, clean and comfortable.
The property has many comfortable common spaces all with free wifi. There are two shared kitchens, one is in the building and one under a palapa. Both kitchens have multiple work surfaces and hot plates. There are two indoor lounges one with a television and the other a sitting area in the lobby. The outside common space is absolutely fantastic. The vibe is friendly and social yet quiet and serene. It is set amongst beautifully maintained wild gardens. There are many colorful tables and chairs, with electrical outlets nearby to keep your electronics charged. You will find plenty of shade to hide from the sun and an area at the back of the garden with several hammocks for your afternoon siesta.
This property with its beautiful gardens is a great place to mingle with other international travelers, tell stories and share ideas for future travels Each morning there is a free breakfast the menu rotates around a few different items such as scrambled eggs or French toast, fresh fruit, good bread, jam, cereal and coffee. The hostel is wonderfully laid back and on our visit we found a good mix of young people and well seasoned travelers. We highly recommended this place when you are in Valladolid. It is an oasis from the bustle of traveling and a good place to recharge.

I loved the hostel and Valladolid!
I really enjoyed my stay at this hostel. It is located very close to the city center and the bus station (perfect location for me), and the staff is very friendly and helpful. My room was not huge but nice and clean. Breakfast was included in the price and it was ok (much, much better than I could have expected for this price). If I ever came back to Valladolid, I would choose this hostel again -- good quality at a very reasonable cost. And Valladolid is a lovely town, very tourists-friendly, definitely worth to visit!
Excellent for a hostel
Excellent staffs and facility. Very good in every aspects for a hostel but unfortunately, hot water was not reliable in the room we stayed in (four people with en suite bath). we stayed there for three nights. staff tried to rectify the problem but with no avail. Until the hot water issue is rectified, they should not be renting the room out as en suite bath, as we need to use the shared bathroom.
