Chit Chat Restaurant & Guesthouse feels more like a hotel than a hostel with its spacious interiors and many added extras like LCD television, porter service, and phones in the rooms. It can an be a great choice if you want to have a break from the busy hostel atmosphere and long for a bit of privacy as the rooms come with few beds and en suite bathrooms. However, certain things are definitely missing, like Wi-Fi in the rooms or proper hot shower.

The Location

The hostel is in a strategic location for discovering Jaipur. Located only five minutes from the railway station, you will be happy you picked this place if you are catching a train early in the morning or arriving late at night. Moreover, if you are a keen walker, the center where the City Palace and Wind Palace are located can also be reached on foot from here, which is not the case with most hostels in the city. The hostel offers a restaurant on the ground floor but there are many other restaurants and bazaar-type street food stalls nearby as well. While the area of the hostel is really busy with a lot of traffic, the rooms are soundproof so it won't bother you when going to sleep.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The hostel offers private and dorm rooms alike and there are female dorms available too. Depending on the dorm, you might get only bunk beds or have the choice between bunk and single beds. The rooms come with a spacious balcony and an LCD television. However, there is no space to store your belongings and there is only one electronic plug in the whole room. The rooms are en suite, but what is supposed to be hot water is only lukewarm and there is no toilet paper provided. Also, you are not given a key to your room but have to wait for a staff member to open it for you every time you want to enter.

Common Spaces

There is a nice garden patio area right in front of the hostel where guests can chill and enjoy the sunshine. There is a tastefully furnished restaurant on the premises, which can also be used as an eating area. Moreover, on each floor there is a common area with a table and chairs. However, there is no kitchen available for guests.

Summary

All in all, if you are not fussy about the details, Chit Chat Restaurant and Hostel can offer you a very relaxing stay. However, the weak Wi-Fi, which is not available in the rooms, might give you some headaches and if you are catching an early train, you should calculate with an extra twenty minutes as the place is locked during the night so you will have to wake up the receptionist and ask him to let you out.
