Yildirim Guesthouse is run by a Turkish-Korean couple. The hostel owners are friendly and speak Turkish, Korean, and English. The hostel has a tour-booking desk to provide tourist information and also book tours to nearby attractions such as Kayakoy and Kabak Beach.
Breakfast is not provided, but guests can order Turkish or Korean meals at a small fee. For guests craving for Korean food, the hostel is one of the only restaurant options in Fethiye for Korean meals.
The hostel is located along the ship docks of Fethiye, so guests will be greeted by gorgeous sea views when looking out of the hostel. There are restaurants, supermarkets (Migros Jet), and pharmacies (ECZANE) located within ten minutes' walk from the hostel, so it is convenient for guests to purchase anything they need.
Guests coming from the bus station should note that the hostel is located twenty minutes' walk away from the main bus station. Guests can also take a taxi for a small price.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Rooms are small, and the space between beds are narrow. Charging points are located between every bunk bed. No lockers are provided, so guests will have to take extra care of their belongings.
Beds are clean, sturdy, and comfortable. However, the pillows are old and are too soft to provide comfortable support. During the winter the room is well heated by an air conditioner. Guests are free to adjust the temperature to their preference, as the heating is not controlled centrally.
There is a single bathroom cubicle en suite with room. Hot water, towels, and shower gel are not provided, so guests booking in the winter may find difficulty showering with cold water.
There is an outdoor and indoor lounge where customers can sit down to enjoy their meals or to watch television. The lounges are equipped with dining tables and sofas.
Guests who are not comfortable with animals should bear in mind that the hostel is also home to a friendly domestic cat belonging to the owner of the hostel.
Yildirim Guesthouse is a unique hostel with Korean owners, which is a rare sight in Turkey. The hostel is well equipped with facilities that are adequate to meet the needs of travelers. The location is decent, and not too far away from the bus station. However, the presence of a domestic cat and the lack of cold showers might be an issue to guests.
